Idk why but I feel like this is AI

[–] untorquer@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

On top of the logo, text, etcetera already pointed out, that's a paint can.

[–] cAUzapNEAGLb@lemmy.world 124 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is, yesterday when this was posted, a commenter zoomed in on the leafblower text and it was clearly generated

[–] Redjard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 21 hours ago

So now we have it here at far lower quality so you can't properly tell anymore

[–] lefty7283@lemmy.world 50 points 1 day ago (2 children)

There’s a Gemini logo in the bottom corner

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 day ago

Nice catch. Very hard to see against the snow

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is this AI, and just making shit up? I've zoomed into the picture and I don't see any logo. Where is it?

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's hard to see, but it's in the bottom right corner:

[–] PlzGivHugs@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Do you have another image I could compare against? I still don't see the logo there. Theres something that looks vaguely like a top and bottom spike, but they aren't even aligned.

To me, this just looks like photoshop, particularly with the cutoff of the spray cone, the bad lightling, and the lack of AI artifacts.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

The most recent models have really cut down on the artifacts, but you can see the text on the body of the snowblower is deeply wonky if you zoom in (even at this resolution).

Here's the gemini logo appearance and location for reference:

Here's the higher-rez version where the logo is much more visible:

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

Ah yes the self defense model leafblower

[–] PlzGivHugs@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Given the fact that in the image its smaller, and lacking the left and right arms of the star, I don't think thats a Gemini logo. That said, the leaf blower body doesn't look like jpeg artifacting, so that may be AI. Its also possible it was something like AI infill, or AI characters sloppily layered onto a real image, which would explain the lack of AI artifacts in the background.

[–] frostysauce@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

jfc the Gemini logo is clearly visible in that higher res version. Also.. look at the label on the leaf blower. That's ai, buddy.

[–] grimWar@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is the logo (OEONIG, GEONIG?) on the leaf blower not enough to convince you?

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Considering how many brands on Amazon have that sort of naming sense, I can believe this leafblower to be one of those products. I have 'Geekhom' mittens.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

This is a really weird hill to die on. Did you see the higher resolution image? It's extremely distinct there, it may have taken a moment to federate over since I edited the comment to include it.

[–] PlzGivHugs@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You're right. It hadn't federated across when I wrote my comment. Its definately AI.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Okay yeah, sorry for the edit delay!

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Because it probably is. Look at where the guy is standing and pointing the blower, it's not even in line with the ICE thug spraying the pepper spray. Also why would the protestor be so nonchalantly just standing there chillin with a random gobblygook no-brand blower. That brand name isn't even English.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Not only that, but this city street allegedly in Minneapolis or Portland is 100% empty except for some random protester, a single ICE agent in full military gear, and some rando half a kilometer away.

The man holding the blower is not only nonchalant as fuck, but his facial expression looks confused like it's his first time using one.

Either:

  • Some of the pepper spray would've hit the protester before he turned on the blower (or even while it was running), in which case his nonchalant demeanor is even more absurd.
  • The agent saw a man pointing a leafblower at him or even saw it running and thought: "Yeah, this is a great time and position to deploy pepper spray."
  • The protester is using reflex mode from The Phantom Pain and turned the blower on at the exact moment the agent started spraying.

The ICE agent is using an ungodly amount of pepper spray and is continuing to spray despite knowing he's involved in some Wile E. Coyote shit right now.

Perfect angle of the action and flawless timing while holding the camera completely steady. They're literally positioned like actors in a stage play.

I'm sorry: I can't imagine who looked at this for more than half a second and thought: "Yeah, that checks out." There's no "probably" about this without some deeply entrenched wishful thinking.

Oh, and the doorway of that red brick building on the left is casually just like four meters tall.

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bro just hit the perfect parry, let him be.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Reflexes honed over thirty attempts at beating Father Gascoigne.

[–] Woht24@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The majority of the time, all I see are people ignorant and wishfully thinking from both sides. It's no wonder the US is in the state it's in.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

the cloud doesn't even make sense. Slop.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Everyone is saying it is AI, and it might be, but I suspect not. A big tell for me is that the hand in the smoke seems pretty cohesive with the rest of him. I would expect some artifacting.

I do think it's edited though. Everyone seems to have forgotten that you can just modify pictures without full AI generation.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

100% AI

The framing is weird, if this was actual protest why are they the only people there? The camo pattern isn't real, the his equipment doesn't make sense. Hes way too far to be using pepper spray and not even pointing it at the guy, the guy with the leaf blower is way too casual. The cloud is completely wrong, not following the stream of the leaf blower and pepper spray isn't a whispy smoke like that (specifically because they don't want it blowing around in the wind) and the text on the leaf blower doesn't look right.

Edit: also look at the brand name of the leaf blower. And there's also a Gemini logo in the bottom right lol.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's weird that he'd carry around a leaf blower that says self defense on it, but not wear any personal protective equipment.

Also you don't see the secret police reaching for his sidearm.

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 1 points 12 hours ago

He holds it weird too

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it wasn’t ai it would be in the news

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago

The canister isn't even aimed at the guy with the leaf blower, plus it's out of range. And the amount of pepper spray in that cloud is far more than would actually be coming out of the can. Plus there's no way the guy would still be holding down the trigger after that much was already blown back in his face.

Gotta be fake.

[–] Pyro@programming.dev 4 points 1 day ago

Good catch, it gets harder and harder for me to spot AI
