I'm OOTL, could someone explain please?

Also I'm European.

[-] RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de 68 points 1 year ago

It's ok, we know you were on vacation.

possible new candidate for a room temperature superconductor, also its apparently really easy and cheap to make. Would eliminate a lot of inefficiency from power transmission, generation, and storage (im a layperson, not qualified; i just think its neat and probably got something wrong)

I was more wondering about the cat girl thing.

Not gonna make a twitter account for this.

Or anything.

Infinite captcha never believed I was human.

Is this how I find out I'm a robot?

I'm sorry Russian cat girls? Wat?

[-] morrowind@lemmy.ml 28 points 1 year ago

May be referring to this: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/call-to-pause-superconductor-experiments-parodies-open-letter-to-pause-ai-experiments

Then the letter quickly establishes its case for caution, pausing superconductor experiments that could cause astonishing challenges. It asserts that the worlds of physics and technology could be changed forever, and this is backed by “top scientific institutions and Russian anime cat girls.”

Russian with a cat girl profile picture has been working on replicating this, posting their progress on Twitter

[-] metaStatic@kbin.social 18 points 1 year ago

Twitter links are now even less useful than before lol

[-] Rekonok@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

You can allway replace twitter.com by a nitter instance https://nitter.kavin.rocks/iris_IGB works even with single tweets

"An error has occurred in one of your routes."

[-] Rekonok@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah a lot of nitter instances are down, I use nitter.cz now and it is faster to type…

https://nitter.cz/iris_IGB

Updated list of instance is here https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I did not know that. Thank you :)

Overworked Chinese student being pressured to produce impossible results?

[-] morrowind@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 year ago

Didn't the first Chinese guy just admit it was a fake?

[-] Idreamofcheesy@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago

Which is also part of the cliché.

[-] Volodymyr@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

It seems like it's just one of the early videos that was fake, made coast on the existing story. Or I misunderstood?

Please let it be true

I want robot legs

[-] sleisl@mander.xyz 14 points 1 year ago

At this point I’ll just wait til the next time I get an MRI, and if the machine is smaller than a car I’ll assume LK-99 ended up working out.

[-] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

What's an LK99? I'm out of the loop.

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I wake up and think "fatherless biped", then boom, "human".
