References manga, probably autistic over purposefully insensitive

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 53 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thats just like the first issue of BLAME! where Killy, the main character, is insensitive to the death of a child.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

Tbf, it's not like the child, or anyone in the entire run of the entire series, is human.

I saw a post on reddit (not pic related) that was so ragebaity I wanted to discuss on lemmy if people felt it was fake - or perhaps even completely generated by an LLM.

It was top trending in the UK and said someone got called into HR for discussing beekeeping with a younger, adult, coworker. They were apparently accused of grooming. It was laying on too thick the "tropes" we're supposed to be annoyed about, which made me suspicious. suppose someone wanted to inflamed culture wars (which they do) it would be the perfect sort of post for that. An LLM can keep on pumping them out till every topic is covered.

I had a theory years ago that r/AmITheAsshole was a testing ground for creating a model of public respectability politics by fine tuning which events did and did not garner support for the OP / the other belligerent. "They hate cheaters but what if she's being physically abused? What if he's being physically abused? What if it's not physical but verbal abuse? What if–" and so on and so forth until you can algorithmically decide exactly how much and which bullshit you need to either dig or make up on someone for public opinion to turn on them.

[–] blueworld@piefed.world 19 points 1 week ago

It might not have been intentional, but I think the LLMs actually end up using stuff like this for their training.

That's real it happened to my uncle.

And my friend, you wouldn't know him, he goes to a different school.

Can confirm, I was the Uber driver

You saw a post on reddit, so you made an alt on Lemmy to repost it, then found an unrelated post from reddit to serve as an intro to your comment (on an unrelated Lemmy post) linking to your lemmy-reddit post.. why? Like I'd get just posting it but why link it here, in this thread, with another unrelated pic lol.

Culture wars? What's wrong with the post

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I'm jaded and every "aita" or "rant" reddit post looks like a culture war grifting made-up-story now.

It hits the elements of

  • HR bad
  • Woman coworker bad
  • "Karen" (middle aged woman) bad
  • men just want to have fun
  • men so oppressed in the professional world by women
  • isn't this craaaazy bro she's trying to be involved in our hobbies she's so jealous
  • le based beekeeping
  • heckin' wholesome safe male hobbies

It's posts like that which shift redditors away from woke to anti woke in culture wars, they're very malleable i would say

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is everything that doesn't have themes that align with your world view fake? Where do you draw the line?

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When i first joined this forum i was constantly reminded that "everything on reddit is fake" so i'm just applying that principle and that is why i figured people might want to chat about it. [I realise i probably should have taken it to a reddit comm which would be a more relevant place for it.]

It's not so much that it doesn't align with my principles (beekeeping is based after all), it is just that it's* laying it on a bit thick*. Even if OP is telling the truth, he didn't need to make such a juicy story about it - we all get crazy coworkers once in a while, don't need to give them a public trial on reddit.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

The irony is not lost, I am also looking at bee keeping and have been talking to colleges about it. Maybe it's the new Roman empire?

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 41 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A good friend of mine killed himself in high school. All the people who caused it showed up and pretended to care and then laughed about it the next week.

Kids are evil.

[–] KernelTale@programming.dev 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That reminds me of how I was baking a pizza after a short day in highschool. It was a very good mozzarella pizza with mushrooms.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

Now I'm hungry and desensitized.

[–] chocrates@piefed.world 32 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Is it blurry? Or is it more evidence I need to go see the eye doctor?

[–] pulsey@feddit.org 8 points 1 week ago

Conspiracy by Big Glasses. They compress images intentionally to make them blurry to question your own eye sight.

[–] modus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Its an illusion because of the purple and red background.

[–] rain_enjoyer@sopuli.xyz 27 points 1 week ago

grassless behaviour

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Like half of Reddit is manga/anime now. I don't think half of GenZ has seen a live action movie.

[–] KernelTale@programming.dev 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I am not genZ but I gave up on live action movies because I dislike them. Well I dislike movies in general but especially the live action

[–] RaphaelSchmitz@feddit.org 3 points 1 week ago

Couldn't even blame them, seeing the movies made in their lifetime.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That's what I call a... DarkFuture
