The conditions you put those girls in were worse, Andy. Wish, I could feel bad for you. Oh wait, no I don't.

乁( •_• )ㄏ

Should prisons be subjecting people to those conditions?

Absolutely not.

Does it upset me that this guy is receiving this treatment? See previous answer.

Also if prison is a thing, I'd sure hope it has a way to keep prisoners who attack other prisoners separated.

Why does this fucker has Internet Access?

[–] TefikiMupu@lemmy.world 53 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I believe this would be somebody posting on his behalf. He'd still be able to talk to his lawyers.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 20 points 2 weeks ago

This is the correct answer I believe

Oh yeah he's living in third world poverty conditions, and yet somehow has access to Twitter to moan about it. Something seems off.

I suspect what is actually happening is that he's in protective custody, because everyone wants to stab him either because they hate him because even criminals have standards, or because they reckon stabbing the alpha male will make them super duper extra alpha male++. If he were put in general population he'd probably be dead within 24 hours. I don't want him to get stabbed and die, I want him to live for a really long time in a really small prison cell.

Maybe don't assault women and brag about it.

[–] hoshikarakitaridia@lemmy.world 36 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

You forgot rape, sex trafficking, prostitution, solicitation of minors etc.

And that across multiple jurisdictions, flop g caught himself multiple times the punishment because he did it in a stupid way too.

In fact he is on record lying under oath and the court already found him not credible, he fucked himself legally before the trial has even begun.

He hasn't got it easy with a brain like this.

[–] umbraroze@slrpnk.net 39 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Dude obviously doesn't see the upside. Hey, here's still allowed to send these novel-length tweets! (Somehow. Dunno why though.)

stone cold water filth and an internet connection

[–] Chr0nos1@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's having a shit time in prison, but is still able to tweet about it? Since when are inmates allowed social media? What a douche.

[–] tazeycrazy@feddit.uk 13 points 2 weeks ago

Probably though an intermediate. So he would have calls and someone on the outside who can tweet for him. He may even send letters or have access to prison monitored technology. Still more than he gave to the girls and women he trafficked.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh, no. It is rather terrible that his crimes put him in such a difficult place.

I mean, I'm totally for prison reform. But I bet you this guy doesn't give a shit about the subject.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The hilarious thing is that he's only in this situation because he has put himself in this situation. He's in prison in the US at the behest of the UK government who want him extradited. If he wasn't fighting the extradition he wouldn't be in the US prison system anymore. UK prisons aren't exactly Scandinavian style, but they're better than the US ones.

Of course if he is extradited he is going to get the book thrown at him. He'll die in prison, in like 50 years or so.

Good, get fucked. This malignant cunt is responsible for mentally ruining an entire generation of young men and the rapes and exploitation of countless women and girls, he deserves all of that and more.

[–] faltryka@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago

It’s so nice in this world full of horrible insane headlines to get some of these great positive human interest stories every now and then.

[–] wide_eyed_stupid@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Whether he's being truthful is the question, but those conditions should be absolutely unacceptable, no matter who's in there. When the state takes responsibility for housing inmates, they need to do it right. It should be clean, they should be treated humanely (insofar that's possible when you're keeping people in cells) and they should be kept healthy.

I see in this thread a lot of people whose gut reaction is to be happy that a piece of shit is being treated like this, but you guys do realize that this treatment is not just limited to Tate, right? Do we really want a society where this shit is accepted, or in this case even praised? It degrades all of us.

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 weeks ago

The irony is, despite all his bitching, they’re protecting him. He’d be thrown around like a dog’s toy if he was in GP. Prison really is not the place for a pretend tough guy.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 18 points 2 weeks ago

You'd think an 'alpha male' would be a bit more stoic.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 weeks ago (11 children)

Though I get the hurr-durr he earned it replies, is this really who we want to be? Shouldn't all prisoners, including the ones we don't like, have the right to some basic human decency?

Yes, this guy is a dip shit criminal asshole, but I am not. I am better than him, and I feel that cheering his inhumane conditions makes me like him. Makes me an asshole.

[–] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 16 points 2 weeks ago

I think the most upvoted comment here, with more upvotes than the post even from what I can see, is probably how most people feel: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/28189667

I think most people don't want to have anyone in these conditions, but he as an individual is not going to garner any sympathy by talking about it. I'm all for prison reform, but hearing him complain about his conditions doesn't spur me to any do any action I wasn't already going to do. I'm not motivated to march to improve his personal conditions. If what he's saying is true, which I doubt only because he's a known liar and fraud, then I do hope that the conditions in the prison improve. I'm just not shedding any tears for him in the interim.

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not going to bother to reply to the one who replied to you already, I feel like it's a wasted effort.

But I agree with you. I read this before seeing the name at the top, and felt deep remorse for another human's suffering. Reading the name at the top didn't change that, it just informed me that the person suffering was someone who has done terrible things. But that doesn't change that a human is suffering.

Justice is not revenge, justice is not punitive, justice is not violent unless it must be. Justice is removing someone from society until they can be rehabilitated, and removing them from society permanently if they cannot be. But removed from society does not mean abused, beaten, neglected, or treated like an animal in a cage. That makes the jailer just as guilty of criminality as the jailed.

Think of it this way: if someone attacks you with a knife, and you defend yourself and kill them, you have acted in self defense. If someone attacks you with a knife, you get away, and then spend a year hunting them down and kill them, you are a murderer. Just because that person has committed an act of violence does not give you license to premeditatively plan their assault or torture. Jails are purpose built, they are planned, we know what we are building when we build them. To intentionally build a university of crime with professors of cruelty is a premeditated act of violence against people who have not even yet been convicted.

We desperately need prison reform

So I started to feel bad for the poor fuck and then I saw the name on it

fucking lol, get what you deserve.

[–] KeithD@lemmy.nz 11 points 2 weeks ago

Given how much he was lying about conditions previously, nobody should be feeling elated yet. But on the bright side, by taking the stand in his extradition bail hearing he hurt his chances in any future trials, especially any he testifies in.

[–] nullspace@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Those are the type of conditions guys like this champion thinking they'll never have to endure them.

[–] funkreddit@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 weeks ago
