Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

No, not a chance. They need to make these criminals accountable, and if they can’t, they need to invent new laws to lock them away forever (no joke, I don’t care how unconstitutional it is, never stopped the current administration). Things need to change, this has to be a lesson.

I doubt it will happen though. 4 seconds after winning, if the dems get power, they will once again discover decorum and will claim it to be their most precious asset.

But even then I won’t despair, because at least a slightly less criminal enterprise will be in control and we can vote for better ones next time.

This of course will never happen though, because instead of incremental changes for good in the right direction, moron Americans will fall for the next “one weird trick” when a single election doesn’t solve every problem in the world.

Eh, maybe some despair after all.

Should they or would they? Should they? Of course not. Will they ? Of course because no POTUS wants to set precedent of accountability.

[–] whoneedsgravy@lemmy.zip 1 points 7 hours ago

It’s like that thing in the drive thru, where the person in the car ahead paid for your coffee. The President pardons the president behind him so the next president can pardon him.

[–] chilicheeselies@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

No. We need to make examples.

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

No. The correct course of action is a public hanging.

[–] Pollo_Jack@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

If he is pardoned, we will get Nixon 3.0 but somehow dumber and more corrupt.

[–] peacepath@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Is there a chance the next president of the US be neither republican nor democrat (for the parties labels)?

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ford shouldn’t have pardoned Nixon.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 9 hours ago

Nixon looks like an angel compared to Presidents after him.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago

Bro what next president

Hard to pardon someone who hasn't like...been sentenced or impeached yet. For some reason.

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

except that is literally what Ford did to Nixon, and pardons aren't a thing for impeachment anyway (for US federal offenses)

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I do think you have to admit to the crime tho. I could be wrong but accepting a pardon means you agree you were guilty I believe.

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You don't have to actively admit to it, though you are right that something like this was held here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burdick_v._United_States

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Interesting. So you don’t have to admit it but if you accept the pardon you are essentially guilty.

“implicit admission of guilt” it says.

I would assume that means that media could say you are guilty and you couldn’t sue them for slander. Like you don’t have to say you are guilty but you cant claim you are innocent… well you can claim anything I guess but yeah people could safely call you guilty at that point.

[–] pbhj@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You should drop him into Iran to face punishment from the Iranian families whose children he bombed at school.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

There ain't enough of him to go around. Willing to negotiate sending a musk, hegseth, or thiel though.

[–] Siegfried@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I'm sure of only one thing, the rest of the world won't pardon you so easily you fucktards

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

He doesn’t need one. SCOTUS said it’s all legal.

[–] DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

NO. Pardons shouldn't cover unrepentant criminals who know what they're doing.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 68 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We got Trump in no small part because Nixon was pardoned.

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

14A3 disqualification and legally nullify the entire second term (erases all pardons and eliminates all immunity), impeachment, prosecution for crimes against humanity, put him against the wall

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 51 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Nope. Pardoning Nixon was a mistake that should not be repeated.

[–] YouTalkinToMe@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

But he was not a crook, someone said?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Then that someone has slept in school, or had an American education.

Instead of just throwing in a random YT link, how about some information?

[–] YouTalkinToMe@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

My first comment referred to a fact that might be considered widely known, but somehow not by you as you didn’t get it. That’s ok - so I took the effort to find you the video that informs you about it. If you still don’t understand it or are too lazy to inform yourself, I’m afraid I can’t help you.

I think the country needs nuremburg trials

Guillotines are tired and boring.

#WoodchipperParty

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Guillotines are a metaphor, implying the French Revolution.

Wood chippers are a metaphor for Fargo, North Dakota.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Who said anything about metaphors?

[–] jackal@infosec.pub 5 points 2 days ago

Hear, hear! We need to have an absolute fuckton of trials for people involved in this blatantly corrupt administration.

Even if Trump copied Nixon by resigning early so Vance could pardon him, he’d still be facing various state charges. (And he could always be extradited outside the US for war crimes.)

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

He won’t live long enough to face consequences. Let him pass in infamy as the most corrupt ever. Let him be featured only in history about how fragile democracy can be.

And dish out justice for his minions and sycophants, everyone who violated the constitution, broke laws or enriched themselves. Especially including his family

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

Absofuckinglutely not! Nixon shouldn't have been pardoned either!

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

No, but they will.

It's a big club, we ain't in it, and their class solidarity is absolute.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Ford was a loyalist who put party over country. We needed a reckoning and that never happened. If it had happened, you'd have found a much different Reagan and Trump presidency.

Nice try, Don. You're not getting off that easy. With the TRUMP-EPSTEIN FILES (TM) alone you're looking at way more time than you have left on the earth you're working hard to destroy.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Of course not. He should send Trump and his sons to Guantanimo.

The next president should arrest every other president and conscribe them to slave labor until the nation's school lunch debts are repaid.
