Well CSIS isn’t really our CIA, because it doesn’t operate in other countries. It’s more like the UK’s MI5. Our FBI is the RCMP. And our NSA would be the Communications Security Establishment (CSE).

CSIS and the CSE are kept in the loop via the Five Eyes, but they just keep track of shit going down in Canada, and let the CIA, MI6, and ASIS (Australia’s CIA) do the dirty work overseas.

That’s a long winded way of saying it, but I agree with you. If you’ve ever been alone and in a scary confrontation on public transit, it’s enough to make you never want to take public transit again, let alone bring your kids along on a trip downtown.

“Statistically it’s safer” doesn’t change anyone’s emotions around what’s actually happened to them. It just makes them think “cool, cool, so I’ll be in that stat as the outlier. Hope they point that out at my funeral.”

I dunno, historically widespread power outages have led to an uptick in birth rates.

My grampa had a similar novelty glass with an inscription that read “my doctor said I can have one beer per day.”

A kid once said to me “well you were born in the 1900s…”

Right. If an Obama were to run, it should be Michelle not Barack. Anyway, they have both said they’re not interested, so it’s just a pipe dream really.
