Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

even though you gain nothing?

I call begging the question!

It assumes a purely capitalist worldview where the only way you can personally gain from an action is via monetary reward. I know I'm preaching to the choir here on Lemmy, but being in the US I think it's still worth pointing out because it's a full-on cultural disease.

Now, if you don't mind, I need to go spend most of my evening doing things that will seemingly gain me nothing. Omg what if I spend some money on materials I need for a hobby? NeGaTiVe gAiNz?!??

[–] WakeUpSmashPots@lemmy.today 9 points 18 hours ago

Gain nothing? How about self respect...

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

Better praxis

Disable the perimeter wheel lock sensor and then put it back.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Ugh, I rolled my ankle a couple weeks ago and still needed to do shopping that day. I was leaning on the cart to stabilize myself. I really did not want to have to walk the cart back to its corral at the end, because walking hurt like hell. But these memes, man, these memes guilted me into doing it anyway.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 8 points 22 hours ago

Depends whether there’s any Teslas nearby that need blocking in

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 9 points 23 hours ago

Back in the late '80s and early '90s my brother and I would run all over the parking lots while our mom was in the store, and return all the carts. We would see how big of a stack we could manage to get moving while we were at it. IIRC our record was 43 carts. We really wanted to hit 50, but I think that was just too much mass for us to handle.

I don't clear the lot anymore, but I do park out by the edge of a lot, if I brought my car, and pick up any carts on the way into the store.

Return your cart and another that's nearby. Sacrifice a little extra time to...

Slow the Decay.

[–] Souvenir@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Steal the carts and sell them back to the store for a finders fee.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 89 points 1 day ago (9 children)

I want to live in a world where people return the shopping carts, therefore I do it myself. If you don't, you're an antisocial prick.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sometimes I even fix the shit show of random carts in random return lanes so everything fits all neat.

[–] korazail@eviltoast.org 9 points 1 day ago

Same. And I'm being serious here while it could sound sarcastic:

I feel good knowing I saved the cart return guy 15 seconds. His day will not be improved because he still needs to move all the carts; and when that task ends there will be another. I understand this, but I still feel like I made the place better than I found it. Where I am, it's hot-AF outside right now, so I hope that I'm making the next indoor task sooner and my time is appreciated -- but my time is literally like <1 minute, so I know it's not a lot of anti-entropy.

My math is that, with billions of people on the planet, if even part of us tried to save someone 15 seconds every few days, we could build so much faith in humanity.

[–] Hundun@beehaw.org 2 points 22 hours ago

Absolutely agree. I return mine every time and silently judge everyone who doesn't. It's the simplest thing in the world

[–] trebach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I give the people in the handicapped spots a pass. They might not physically be able to go to the cart return and back.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 20 hours ago

Or they may be totally capable but it will burn up their energy reserves for the day and have more stuff to get done.

Best not to judge, as you said.

[–] magikmw@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

There's no scripture about shopping carts therfore there's no eternal damnation looming over you if you don't put them back. Take that atheists!

We have these coin lock trollies here.

I made a tool that bypasses the coin lock so I know that every time I return my trolley I am motivated purely by social concern and not self interest.

I am 100% serious, I wish I knew what was wrong with me.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I am motivated purely by social concern and not self interest.

In that case, allow me to fix that last line for you:

I am 100% serious, this is what's right with me.

Be the change and all that. Keep being socially conscious - we need that more than ever right now.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

It's completely derranged to be so annoyed at the idea of being coerced into doing something that you buy a thing, pull it apart and figure out how it works, make a tool to bypass it, and continue doing exactly the same thing but now "freerer"

[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This man invented a machine to prove his morality.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

Not a man. The sexism of assuming everyone is sucks

[–] A404@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

You can also use the round side of a key to bypass it.

[–] RedSnt@feddit.dk 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They hand out free plastic tokens for the trollies at the registers here in Lidl's in Denmark, and people still put their trolly back.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yes yes, everything is better in denmark except the food. We are very tired of hearing this :p

Is it a co-op?

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

push the shopping cart into the largest truck in the parking lot as hard as you can

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And then mend and return the cart.

Hyper praxis achievement unlocked!

[–] Souvenir@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

jam it onto or tie it to the tow hook.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 36 points 1 day ago (14 children)

even though you gain nothing

This is Aldi, I get my quarter back.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

I once paid 8 fucking bucks to use a cart at an airport. They give you a quarter back for returning it. I feel like they misunderstood the meaning of "deposit" but whatever, I absolutely did not return that shit and hopefully someone else saved 8 bucks.

Always, because when I wear my heelys I can lift up the back of the cart and basically Tokyo drift through the parking lot and the looks I get fuel me.

[–] AsheHole@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

I love wearing my heelys while shopping. I push the cart hard then just hold on and coast. I love when I make eye contact with a child while their parent is busy and just wheel by them. When they tell them that the lady that just went by had wheels on her shoes and they see me standing looking at beans or something, they think the kid was lying.... Gaslighting lil Timmy with heelys.

Just be careful if there are women around, you don’t want to hydroplane

As former minimum wage grocery worker, cart duty is legit the best job on site. You get to be outdoor, doing something actually useful, can put on headphones and don't have to interact with any annoying customers. If we shame everyone into returning their carts, then noone will be on cart duty. Then they're just gonna cut the job, or reassign people into more annoying nonsensical jobs like pretending to stock the shelves to deter thieves or just standing at self-checkout doing nothing and being bored out of your mind (you are not allowed to wear headphones or play on your phones when standing at self-checkout).

Breaking windows so we have to employ more glaziers is a terrible way to improve society

I gain the satisfaction of being a conscientious member of society.

Yes, I return mine because I hate the chaos. I even got in a heated verbal altercation over someone putting theirs on the curb recently.
