I've had great success in saying I'm cancelling/leaving because I'm moving away. There are a few roads in the suburbs that will have something finish getting fixed only for the same exact road to be torn up again for something else cause they didn't coordinate. Macarons are one I picked up a few years back. I'd be damned if I'm paying almost $3 for a cookie after my niece asked for some at the store.
