Amazing, really. I think the funniest thing about it is actually that no one would expect him to? He's an 80+ year old man in pretty rough shape, he would never in a million years be the lifeguard on duty, but he's still so self centred that this is the thing he thought to say. Incredible.

very funny to say this to a 10 year old lmao you have to give it to him

I wonder if we should take his blatant disrespect for any and all Americans as a sure sign he's doing a coup instead of elections in 2 years...

God I hope so. Just tear the last vestiges of the mask of capital right off let's fucking go.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

but I don't have any respect for Americans either. or our bullshit elections

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

OTOH, I'm pretty sure he's always been this big of an asshole, he's just getting older and continues to get exactly what he wants

Why bother trying to hide it when it doesn't matter

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

He's said way more disrespectful things even directly of his own base since 2016, I think.

between the diet coke and the constant attempts on his life i don't believe he's gonna be walking in 2 years

Trump is literally a comedian that is paid to be the face and heel of the imperial state.

[–] moss_icon@hexbear.net 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I dunno I think he’s a pretty accurate personification of the imperial state.

[–] ThatVeganYouHate@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He is literally the most American thing ever (gross, sloppy, greedy, grotesque, violent etc)

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

yeah i was listening to an episode of a podcast where they recalled looking at trump in the 90s and thinking he's the personification of the united states

[–] regul@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

Was true then, has remained true as both the country's power and his cognitive abilities have declined.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 25 points 4 days ago (2 children)

It feels like sometimes Trump has these little epiphanies, where he just realises he's a terrible person and is only where he is in life thanks to being such a terrible person, but he never goes to the next step and forms genuine self-awareness about it.

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

i think he probably just doesn't give a shit lmao

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

That's why he never goes a step further.

I feel like it’s been a while since he had a bit this good

[–] microfiche@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago

This is up there with the Diet Coke tweet. Hot damn.

[–] christian@hexbear.net 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This is an actually good remark, to the point where it feels completely out of character. It reads as genuine praise for an act that was actually good. Off the top of my head I don't have a single other example of that out of him. A flippant admission that he sucks is actually very appropriate when it's immediately preceded by calling the teenager a hero as a contrast.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 24 points 4 days ago

He briefly defended Hamas purging compradores, before reversing position the next day or whenever like the zionist running-dog he is.

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago

He is so fucking funny.

[–] ashenone@lemmy.ml 19 points 4 days ago

Chat is this real? Cause if so this is the most honest thing he's ever said

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago

"You're lucky, sweetheart, I would've let you drown!"

[–] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

He's 80 he's just telling it like it is

[–] theperfidiousOrbweaver@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That first part was fine lmao.

The "I don't know if I'd do it" could have easily been spun by his team as him showing some humility, but then he had to go fuck it up by adding on with "Seriously, kid, you'd probably be dead if I was the lifeguard."

My bf went into a swamp to help a woman whose leg had been hurt in a accident get out of her car, and the cop who arrived said he wouldn't have done it because there were alligators in the water.
