Are they apologizing for not having it in a little banchan bowl on the side with a couple other goodies? I'm pretty sure most Koreans would prefer to have some kimchi with bland Japanese food lol.

Yes. Also eating that amount of kimchi would be eating more vegetables in one sitting than the average Japanese person eats in a month.
I'm not even joking.
I think they are apologizing for inventing a fucked up version of bibimbop?
Bibimbap is so much better than donburi that it's almost insulting to compare lol. Gimbap is also a lot better than sushi.
Preaching to the choir brother. I am Korean, so I might be a tad biased.
bland Japanese food lol.
Damn they really are the brits of Asia lol
At least the Brits were good at sailing at one point in their history....... I don't know how an island nation has been completely dunked on in nearly every naval engagement in their history.
But yeah.... Japanese food is more like English food than Korean or Chinese food imo. The traditional food is mainly flavored by broth, they fry everything they can, mayonnaise on everything, and the only thing that isn't bland is the watered down curry.

IIRC, in Japanese martial history, they really only used ships as floating battlefields for infantry when various lords fought each other. Since their only strategy was board, the Korean turtle ships were designed as a hard counter to that

Aka a strategy that went out of style a couple thousand years ago.
They also did very poorly in ww2. Wildly betting on "if battleship good, giant battleship is best".

Imperialist island nation plagued by a chauvinistic culture
With worse and blander food than the corresponding continent
Also, in both cases said chauvinistic imperialism often gets overlooked because people focus on their pop culture.

Desu ne = innit
This has been my joke for years, Japan is the England of the east. But at least the English enjoy vegetables, beans, and fruits that're relatively cheap, affordable, and more important than anything else plentiful in general society.
Also
Narrow streets and (waning in the UK) affinity for compact cars.
Similarly strict gun control
Fetishized by Americans
Do yankees really fetishize the brits? If anything I feel like they are looked down upon lol. Funny accent, bad teeth, weird food, worshipping a pedophile king...
I think Americans certainly used to fetishize the brits. "Hot guy with a British accent" hasn't been a stereotype for like ever for no reason but that being said I haven't heard anyone say that in at least a decade and we most certainly do shit on the brits extensively nowadays
Did you not see the inauguration or the royal wedding?
Good point, but no I didn't watch that garbage. I guess some yanks really do hate themselves :)

This explains so much
