Ramen is a word coming from Chinese lamien, japan didn't invent the concept of "let's make a nice broth and add some noodles to it", the fact that we call it ramen is cultural imperialism

This has been my joke for years, Japan is the England of the east. But at least the English enjoy vegetables, beans, and fruits that're relatively cheap, affordable, and more important than anything else plentiful in general society.

I think Americans certainly used to fetishize the brits. "Hot guy with a British accent" hasn't been a stereotype for like ever for no reason but that being said I haven't heard anyone say that in at least a decade and we most certainly do shit on the brits extensively nowadays
