No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Judging by this example, they probably increased crime in Washington D.C. since this looks a lot like unlawful detention and/or assault.
That's the intention. Create a problem that doesn't exist, then solve said problem. Crime in DC was at an all time low until Trump sent troops who are now committing crimes. Now Trump can point to "look at the crime in DC! Look at it!"

Few people bother with statistics. Far more often their 'common sense' reasoning goes: "Well there must be horrible crime, otherwise they wouldn't send in the national guard".

Even if this were justified and they used proper procedure, since when can national guard legally arrest anyone for any reason?
The article does mention that. National guard do not have any authority to arrest. Only detain and hand the person over to the police. It doesn’t mention if she was later arrested though. Just she sustained severe injuries from the detainment.

I've been saying it for years. This is Weaponized Patriotism. They spent the last 20 years deifying the military in American eyes so at least half the country would either be fine looking the other way when the military is turned on US citizens, or are so deep in the propaganda that they'll outright support it

National Guard is a small part (and state specific) of the military AND is mostly representative of the state they're from. They usually have a more homogenous world view derived from the culture of their state.
Active duty military gets to experience other places and takes people away from their home state, usually improving their world views.

Let's say she did assault a member of the national gaurd 2 days ago.
The national gaurd has zero authority to enter her property and detain her. This is solely a power of the civilian law enforcement, or at least its supposed to be.

Why the fuck are the Idaho national guard in DC in the first place?
Because when you're a dictator and you want to oppress or attack a population, you get troops from nowhere near that location so that they will not be attacking their local community. Ideally you want hillbilly idiots from the arse end of nowhere so you can tell them anything you like about who they are supposed to beat the shit out of.
