Hmmm.. idk if "establishing a mindset in people" is viable tho. That kinda sounds like "make them think a certain way". I'm reminded of the adage you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink you know?

Well, there might need to be an equal and opposite reaction in order to keep it in check. If some people are just inherently evil and desire power over others, then I imagine there would also be inherently good people and desire to protect others.

I don't think you can "prevent" this outright. That's why there's talk of "vigilance" and being "watchful" when it comes to government/democracy.

Whatever power structure you try to create, men will try to control and corrupt it. The founding fathers thought splitting the power in 3 tri-force style would prevent it, but it's only been delayed.

You put a cpu in charge? They will go after the cpu. You don't allow access to the cpu? They will say it can't be trusted. (Like they're doing with scientists now) Or they put their own people in charge and lie about what the cpu is saying.

Whatever system you put in place, they will find a way around it. They will never stop, it's their nature. And even if you devise the perfect system, maybe something that hasn't been invented yet (like the internet) could bring it down.

I think the founding fathers also knew this, and it's why the 2A exists. They just underestimated the power of decades of brainwashing and conditioning.

Yup. I see posts like "how bad does it have to get for Americans before they protest like France?!" And it's like, compared to the world, things aren't that terrible yet. Still a decline sure, but it's just bringing us back to the average.

The whole "move out at 18 and find your own place" is very American. Other countries it's not uncommon to have multiple generations in the same house, some never move out. Not because they're lazy but because it's just too expensive to do it alone.

No clue, I'm gonna go play Paper Mario tho, heard it was inspired by Luigis Mansion lol

"I wish I could wish away my feelings"

Most egregious line of the prequels imo. So dumb lol. He couldn't just Google "other words for wish" or something?

"I wish I didn't have these feelings" "I wish that these feelings could be taken from me"

Idk George just let someone polish your scripts

I mean, yes and no. Rome didn't have military bases around the world when it collapsed and Germany didn't have reserve currency status. But their currency DID become worthless. Stories like people burning money cuz it was cheaper than buying firewood.

I know that it won't be "exactly the same" but maybe we could glean some valuable insight. Like physical items held value way better than currency. What did people do? Did families all return home and live with their parents/siblings since costs were too high alone?

Having an idea of where things might go or what could happen just makes me feel better about it I guess? Like I know if the dollar collapses no amount of prep will really make it better and society as we know it in the U.S. will not exist for a bit.

I keep seeing posts like this and they make a lot of sense. Do you have any recommendations on where someone might read up on this or should I just start googling stuff like "what happens when countries collapse?" "German economy after WW1" "currency collapse of ancient Rome" etc etc

You gotta get some limes instead, but keep dropping them and apologize for dropping your limes. Then when they ask why you keep dropping limes you can say "sorry, I'm not very good at pick up limes."
