There's still people that approve of him?
80+ million of them. It reminds me of the George Carlin quote: “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
Wait, what? How did his approval rating shoot up to 34%? It was at 29% last time I checked... We need to get that percentage back down below 30!
Any number greater than zero is a clear symptom of a failed society and state.
Unless this results in a Democrat landslide so substantial that they sweep every Senate seat up for grabs and win huge in the House, I cannot see this being the end of Trump. It would need to be a more substantial result than this year's Hungary Parliament elections which awarded Magyar a two-thirds majority that could undo the damage Viktor Orban did upon the state.
Donald has been impeached twice. Both impeachments failed because you need a two-thirds majority in the Senate to convict. A third impeachment will probably fail unless the scenario I outlined above does happen by some absolute fluke.
If anything, Trump is far more likely to be removed via the 25th Amendment. He's 80 years old, showing worsening signs of dementia, and I can definitely see the cabinet trying to convince him to stand down and let Vance salvage their chances for 2028. That is unless Trump chooses to challenge their attempts to invoke the 25th Amendment, in which case it goes to Congress. A two-thirds majority will then be needed in both houses to remove Trump.
25th still requires ⅔ of each the House and Senate. It's like impeachment, but with more steps.
I hope that when he dies, he will know he was unloved his whole life. Especially the last 10 of them.
I can guarantee you that he won't, because as a narcissist, his brain is utterly incapable of even forming such a thought.
The big question is how far will the non-senile members of his administration go to keep the midterms - and if the Democrats will actually impeach and remove if they do manage, in spite of themselves, to get the power to do so.

If you look back at Nixon's numbers, even as he resigned in total disgrace, it will tell you a lot. The teaching of that history might lead one to believe it would be at or near zero approval, but that's not the case.
I doubt that Americans are all that unique in this by the way. I bet every country has their base of anti-intellectuals who want to see others being hurt (esp. women, POC, gays) and to give the finger to people that know more than they do, have more education than they do, etc. - AKA, the group of people these dumbasses call "elites".

Everything Nixon did was weak sauce compared to Trump. I don't understand why Nixon was so vilified, his framework for healthcare was eventually adopted as Obamacare, he signed the SALT treaty with Russia, he opened up trade with China, he tailed off troops from Vietnam war supported by Kennedy and Johnson. He ended the draft (started by Johnson) , he started the EPA, he declared war on cancer, increased the NIH, increased CDC...no president increased this spending until Clinton.
Big fucking difference from Trump's accomplishments, which in his second term are still zero. Literally cannot list one positive action from Trump.
He convinced the North Vietnamese to stay away from the Paris Peace Talks, so he could get elected (which LBJ called "treason"), then he allowed the war to go on for his entire term, so he could use it to get elected again - "Peace is at hand" and "Don't change horses mid-stream - as if the president who was waging war for political purposes was interested in pursuing peace.
Or only ended because we lost the war, Saigon was overrun, and America had to run for it, our worst, most humiliating military loss in history. Nixon never really wanted Peace.
58,000 young American soldiers died, most of them under Nixon's watch, many of them drafted by the government out of their childhood bedrooms, to die in a tiny country halfway around the world, that posed no threat to America in any way, just so Nixon could get reelected. And do Watergate.
Any wonder why people wanted him gone?

Rule proposal: no putting Trump's age near the front of the headline unless it's the headline for which we're all waiting.
I actually kind of like it. Nobody ever shut up about how old biden was even though his admin did all the work. Trump is a much worse -- sorry, I mean "hands on" leader, so his age is even more relevant. When he acts like the petulant baby he is journalists should absolutely remind everyone that he's a geriatric.

Biden was too old, Trump was too old. The average age of the house was 65 at one point. The entire government is too fucking old to care about the future of the country.

That's the very least of my concerns. Dude could be 40 or 90 for all I care; the real problem is that he's an incompetent asshole with malignant narcissism, and always has been.

That third of the country is what the Republicans rely on, they're their hardcore voting bloc. They will be for anything the Republicans do because "The Democrats are doing it but worse!" They believe that the reason Democrats don't get in trouble so often is they're better at hiding their horrendous acts instead of just not doing them. As well they're generational voters, have voted Republican since Lincoln and never will change.
A third of the country has been denied adequate education and services because the inequitable distribution of resources towards affluent urban versus poor rural areas.
Democrats have failed to significantly improve the material conditions in some of the poorest areas of the country, so a lot of rural voters feel betrayed and would rather go with the guy who is a outright greedy jerk, than the politician who talks out of the side of their mouth, while still obeying their corporate masters.
That's not entirely true though. Biden got through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that invested heavily in developing rural electric and internet. He also supported the USDA ReConnect Program, and several other initiatives. Many of these things that Democrats helped pushed through were celebrated as "wins" by Republican Representatives.
What were they expecting?

I can’t disagree with that.
And I also have to concede that a lot of rural voters have gotten entrenched into their ultra religious echo chambers, and anything that has to do with public education gets rejected as “woke agenda” to them. So they vote against their own interests.
The problem was created by lack of resources and now that the effects have firmly taken root, it’s hard to reverse course.
This is the real answer. Rural areas have been completely ignored other than subsidies for corporations and wealthy farmers. No funding for schools or hospitals or roads or infrastructure.
So they voted in a way that is counterproductive, that might make their lives worse. That seems silly until you remember their lives were already being made worse.

My grandma passed away when she was 82. She could still walk and made some sense sometimes. Usually she was in the present but you could easily catch her talking or interacting with things that had already happened. She was similarly but better at 80. Very grumpy like this guy. Get your popcorn ready, cuz the story is gonna get interesting for this guy.
My grandma was a real meanie until 80 when she got a small undetected stroke in her sleep and flipped her character to a loving old granny all of a sudden. So the popcorn could go to another direction too, which would be really something.

Due to the ongoing usa political powerbroker shenanigans, about 1/3 of the american population gave up on the american dream well before trump came on the scene. Once trump started spewing his sweet lies he had them hook, line and sinker. To reiterate, american greed and "business" caused all of this madness then trump came along and capitalized on it.

Saying they disapprove will never happen. Privately, maybe on the john, say, they may momentarily think it before furtively begging Jebus for forgibness.
I came up with a 20-30% rule. Roughly each quarter of population is always divided into different political camps. It's not what I experimented and surveyed on but it's what I have always observed in terms of voting patterns since history, especially in Europe. The Nazis won only about a quarter of voting population but they had to form a coalition to form a government. Similarly, the various Spanish left wing parties also had to form a coalition with each other before the Spanish Civil War, until the losing right wingers staged a coup to take power sparking the civil war.
If we look at the voting pattern as well in the previous American presidential elections, only 60% of eligible voting population went to the polling booth. More than half of those who voted elected Trump while the other remaining elected Kamala. So, of those who voted, about 30-35% elected for either candidates. Those who did not vote comprise 40% and they did not do so for various reasons. It's safe to assume that of those 40%, half are either liberal/left or right/conservative who did not feel energised by either Kamala or Trump and would rather elect their own preferred candidate (Sanders, Jill Stein, Haley etc).
Those are just my guesstimate but it roughly correlates with voting patterns in various countries if ranked choice voting and proportional representation happens. Even though some countries with no ranked choise and proportional representation, about one quarter of people are of certain inclinations. So, it is unsurprising that 30% of Americans are fascists supporting Trump. Those adjacent or apologists of Trump may not be outright fascists, but are enablers or useful idiots.

Every article be like “so and so is fuming! They had a melt down and slammed another person”.
In reality it be like, “I don’t like cauliflower.”
The exaggeration is getting out of control.
How can 1/3 of Americans think this child rapist is doing a good job?
