He's a ~~meathead~~ strong, alpha man in a position with a lot of public eyes that other ~~meatheads~~ strong, alpha men can look up to for guidance.

Hey, if his admission to being tricked by Trump's lies causes other ~~MAGA folks~~ strong, independent thinkers to have a little introspection and change, I'm all for it.

The Democrats are asking for the following:

  • Extension & expansion of health-care subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This was set to expire at the end of 2025, and would drive up insurance costs for millions of low-income and middle class families if not subsidized.
  • Reversal or protection against Republican-led cuts in Medicaid / other health programs. The BBB removed a lot of people from Medicade coverage, they want to prevent it from getting worse and guarantee protection for US citizens.
  • A meaningful say in any continuing resolution (CR) or stop-gap that reopens the government.

Essentially, Republicans are trying to ram through legislation that fuck over a lot of people. Democrats are trying to prevent a lot of people from being fucked over, and have essentially told Republicans that you need to work with us on these things....like, you know, a functional government is supposed to do.

Not sure if you're just blatantly ignorant of what's actually happening or if this is just an attempt to smear Democrats, but it'd be nice if a Republican could take the extra 5 minutes to actually read about what's going on. I'll do it for you (you're welcome).

Sen. Hawley introduced the "Keep SNAP Funded Act of 2025" on Oct. 21st. It's currently with the Senate Appropriations Committee, as of that time. It's not likely to go anywhere though as REPUBLICAN LEADERS, are not prioritizing it. From a Politico article, there were several quotes from Republicans stating that they don't want a stopgap, that it doesn't actually fix the problem.

But hey, it's so much more convenient to just blame Democrats for every problem, isn't it?

You know how much specialized farming equipment costs? That's like you owning a plumbing business and the government then screwing over your business somehow and someone going, well, you can always just start a electrician business. Like, sure you have some basic tools that might crossover, but it's an entirely different field that you know nothing about. There's significant risk as you know very little about that new crop, you may not have connections for distribution, you might not be scaled correctly to handle the nutrient or water needs. It requires extensive planning and if you fuck up one thing in that crop (i.e. you now have a weird blight or mildew or destructive animal you never planned for), you could be properly fucked.

Yeah, we got chickens just to support my egg addiction. I make a soft scramble pretty much every single morning.

He is the Goonmaster. The chosen one, prophesized by the ancients, to save us from a dark evil. By his hand, he will lead us into salvation. Praise be /u/vaultdweller013! May his sword remain strong, and his hand firm, for dark days be ahead of us.

I had a better idea. What about every additional house you own drives up the tax rate on every house you own by 1-2 %? This makes it affordable to still own a vacation house if you really want one, but by the 3-4th house, there's zero profit margin on the houses (if you're renting them out and it quickly becomes pointless or expensive to own multiple properties.

I don't want to support any company that is either directly or indirectly funding genocide and fascism. It's not complicated.

If you found out that Netflix powered their servers using an orphan grinding machine, would you still subscribe to them?

The tariffs are absolutely fucking up our country right now, and I live in the US, and we absolutely deserve it. It's affecting every single one of my projects (I work in an engineering/manufacturing company). Turns out 10-25% tariffs really cuts out a lot of the margin for people so we've had to significantly bump prices on aerospace components. This in turn will drive ticket prices up eventually as well. It's also affecting our groceries. And then the side effects of all of it, is the boycotts from numerous countries. It's absolutely crushing our trade.

That said, all of the boycotts are absolutely fantastic. Keep it up. Our lead-addled half of the US needs to understand what isolationist policies do to our country. Maybe it'll be the wake up call that people need to understand that international cooperation is the key to success.

It comes off so elitist when people like you and OP act this way though. Most people don't like politics or even want to get involved. A majority of those ones that do get involved have such a baseline understanding of what their political affiliation is it's shocking. Hell, for most of my life I didn't know better either. I always considered myself a liberal Democrat, but better realized that I'm fully a progressive.

It's better to be open and supportive of people, and to talk to them about their beliefs. It goes a lot better than ridiculing then over it. You catch a lot more flies with honey, than with vinegar.

Why so blue?

They taste like Selena Gomez. What do you mean what are they? You act like this is complicated. I mean it says right there in the outside of the cookie tray wrapper. They've been putting the flavors in the outside for 30+ years. They wouldn't just change it up on a random whim.

Trump slams Netanyahu for truce violation, says it is still in effect and that he is not seeking regime change in Iran.

My local board game shop sells Nemesis lockdown and I'm trying to decide if I should buy it or not. The game looks awesome, however, it's a little pricey.

Heard some people state that lockdown was a little harder to learn, and then they'd recommend newer players learn the original prior to getting the lockdown version.

I did have a few other questions about it though. Do the expansions work with lockdown? Is there any additional player expansions that you can add on to it? We have a gaming group regularly with 5 to 7 people, it'd be really nice if we could fit those additional two people on.
