Be the change you want to see in the world.

[–] 1egg4u@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Does anyone have a spare herd of goats (asking for a friend)

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Wait, you mean someone would lie on the internet? Just for the laughs? I dunno, seems far fetched.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 38 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Fun fact: In medieval Spain, because of the constant wars between Christian and Muslim kingdoms a lot of land count not have been used for farming. Big chunks of land would pass from one side to another, people would have to move and abandon their crops. This lead to rise of big sheep herding industry - sheep could be moved out of the way of incoming army. But the hot climate forced people to move the sheep into to mountains during summers. This migrations - summers in mountains and winters in warmer southern regions - created high quality product - merino wool. To protect growing wool industry special laws were enacted that created protected herding routes that in many places can be seen to this day:

To celebrate this heritage there's a "herding day" held in Madrid when sheep and goats from the mountains of Leon pass through the capital on their way to the winter grazing sites:

I know the transhumância and the connected laws, but had no idea it was a way people found to mitigate the effects of war. Makes sense. Plan C for SHTF is to hit the road with the herd.

Lots of people take their unruly kids through Walmart, I don't understand the problem. Was it the jug?

[–] RejZoR@lemmy.ml 24 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Knowing America, the jug should've been in a brown paper bag. For some reason.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

The brown paper bag is so nobody knows that you're drinking alcohol.

That could be ANYTHING you're drinking from a brown paper bag. You could be drinking arizona iced tea. You could be drinking coke. You could be drinking malt liquor......I mean no, not that. It was just...uhhhh......something else.

Yeah. You totally bought it. Nobody knows I'm standing outside this corner store, having not bathed in months, drinking malt liquor from a baggie.

See? The brown paper bag WORKS!

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Here's Western District commander Bunny Colvin on the importance of the brown paper bag to civilization.

Container laws vary wildly, but I would guess the animals could be considered disorderly conduct.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

How? They're being herded. It's very orderly.

Don't let this lady's antics distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Truly a watershed moment in history. Things took a big turn for the worse in the world after that. Did the Undertaker's action unleash hell on Earth?

[–] snoons@piefed.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago

Dammit... be the drunk goat lady you want to see in the world.

What exactly is a jib? And why was it cut?

[–] just2look@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

A jib is a type of sail. And I think the cut is talking about the shape. Beyond that I can't explain.

[–] EvilBit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

IIRC, the shape of the jib sail indicated the origin of a sailing vessel, so it could show a friendly ship from a distance.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is your tuna canned, instead of swimming in the sea?

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Because it makes for great sandwiches

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well it's not quite a nib, and it's not quite a jiffy, but man!

So to answer your question I don't know

Not a bad lifestyle if you ask me.

[–] snoons@piefed.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I had two shipments of soylent replaced because they were both stale and well, the replacements were also stale... so now I have four shipments, ~70kg, of useless powder just stacked around my room. -_-
