Luigi didn't do anything though.

And that poor sub tried its best.

[–] BitchPeas@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The live cam did nothing wrong. Its an objective observer.

The Orcas are simply accepting our terms of war.

Moreover, the acoustic failure detection sensors seemed to have worked, *but the process failed since they didn't know what to look for since they didn't do any testing.

What's up with the orcas? Am I missing something?

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 90 points 2 months ago (3 children)

A specific pod of them was attacking yachts in the north Atlantic and training others to do the same last summer IIRC

[–] cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au 47 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Heroes. How do I support their work?

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago

Never stop believing

[–] Onyxonblack@piefed.social 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You could read "Orca's Song" by David Zindell. He covers this from the Orca's perspective!

[–] cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No I don't mean like awareness bullshit. I like their work and would like to do things that enable them to continue/expand. These are real (cetacean) people doing real work.

They're not attacking billionaire yachts though, instead it's small sailing boats. Some of those are probably owned by fairly rich people, but probably not that rich.

Orcas understand praxis.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 15 points 2 months ago (5 children)

What's up with the guy on the right? I don't know who that is.

[–] yopyop@sh.itjust.works 70 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

Luigi Mangione. I don't know why he's there, this guy did nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

[–] manualoverride@lemmy.world 51 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Right! All he did was enjoy a meal, a succulent McDonalds meal.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Then some cops showed up, and he yelled "THIS MAN TOUCHED MY PENIS!"

Some guy I saw in Hawaii on 2024-12-04

[–] manualoverride@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That is our lord and saviour Luigi, looking ripped.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm jealous. Not because he's ripped (which is cool too) but because he can walk around without a shirt and not having a bazillion mosquitos harvesting his blood.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

takes your shirt off, and begins sucking on your nipple

What? Oh, this? No. I'm not sucking your blood. This is a whole other thing. Just go with it....

continues sucking nipple

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Seriously, we have multiple economists saying the only way out of this fine mess (and to save the world) is to massively redistribute the wealth at the top to the rest of the population.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I'm an economist (I have a degree and everything. It's in underwater basket weaving but it's still a degree) and I say this

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 2 months ago (4 children)

To be fair, when I took Economics 101: Macroeconomics in 1985, there was a big point about how important it was to maintain a fairly even wealth distribution, with a discussion of how it is a very bad thing™ for all the wealth to consolidate at the top. (In the meantime, Reagan was gutting all the policies that were used to keep wealth distributed and preserve a strong middle class.) So this is something that anyone who took a basic college course should know.

In time, I got confused that presidents and legislators kept pushing supply side (trickle-down) economics and kept passing laws that allowed the upper class to keep more of their money, while leaving the lower and middle classes to languish, when I was certain these officials were educated (or had experts who were) and should know better. Then I worked out that they are just captured and corrupt AF.

This and anti-cyclical spending avoiding depressions are the only two real¹ predictions from the guy that basically invented macroeconomics.

No politician cares about either of them.

1 - Meaning about things people actually need, not money.

Luigi was in Nov/Dec though

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

4 December 2024. I remember because right after reading about it, I took my wife to her chemo appointment that had been repeatedly pushed back due to health insurance fuckery.

Several, but more. Importantly, they developed a "game" where teenage teach other teenage Orcas they can sink them. Is about their solidarity against these money pits.

It’s a really hot summer, does that mean it might be one of the big CEOs?

[–] DudleyMason@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I'll cheer for fate when it starts pumping those numbers up. One a year? What rookie bullshit is this?

I prefer my billionaires to be sacrificed to The One Who Stirs Under the Mountain. We must keep the The One Who Stirs Under the Mountain content.
