From everything I've read about the male performer side of this industry, that's likely correct.
Honestly, it's probably one of the few industries where men are paid less than women.
I looked into the porn industry during the pandemic and it's wild, pun intended. Some companies are legit and super concerned about consent and paying people well but others are not (i.e. girlsdoporn). Some production companies are super progressive while others are normal capitalistic ventures with shitty values.
Even individual models (e.g. onlyfans models) can be deceiving. Some are "real" in the sense it's the real model interacting with you while others hire third-world companies to manage their sites. (Aside: be careful not to form parasocial relationships with OF models.)

Yeah, some OF models clearly automate posting ad videos because there will be a video that has a caption and tags that have nothing to do with the content. Probably AI-based, though it might even just be a simple script that randomly picks from a list of captions and tags.
Makes me wonder if that's even effective. Like are the thirst traps there because the women desperately want to gain traction and think that's how, or are they there because it is an effective way of gaining traction? Because for me personally, it's more of a turn off or at best neutral if I'm really attracted to her.
OF, like anything connected with capitalism, suffers from the same motivation: extract as much value for as little effort as possible.
Unless the model is truly, 100% wanting the life associated with OF (they exist but are rare), they gonna capitalism.
I have made friends with a handful of OF models (met them completely outside OF and found out that's what they do) and they hate the grind but they have to. Their competition is every other model and porn site so they have to be personal.
Yeah, that's the frustrating part of the sex worker morality debate. While it can be argued that a decent portion of sex workers don't really want to be doing it, their motivation is the same as the rest of us and sex work is the best option they see for surviving, either because they genuinely like it better than other options or because they don't see other options (though the ones who are forced into it are a different story, though the laws against sex work make things even harder for them rather than protecting them).
The Moral problem isn't the Sex, it's the Work, specifically the being forced to Work within an Economic and Political structure set-up and de facto controlled by others, to merelly survive.
We're born in a World were somebody else already owns all the stuff we need to survive (most notably Land), and unless lucky to have been born in a high net worth family, de facto slaves who have no option but to Work for the owners of everything in order to survive, and for some people that means Sex Work.
In this line of Work like in many others, I bet that if something like a proper Universal Income came along a lot of people, thus having an actual choice, would be doing something else.
There's no problem in doing Sex Work because you want to, there is a problem in doing Sex Work because you have to.
It's important to note that man are not stigmatized, where women could often not find an other job after their porn carrier. Economic inequality is not just about wages

I have a Samsung phone so every time Android updates it downloads 3 new, shitty games that nobody asked for. A few times I played them just long enough to be able to leave a negative review and complaint on the Play store before deleting them. I genuinely can't remember the last carrier phone I had. I get whatever $200 every few years. So far it's been a Sony, a used pixel, and a Motorola, and I just found out my current Motorola is supported by graphene, so I might see how long I can make it last. It's honestly perfect, the Sony was/is beautiful but had a slightly wrap around the sides screen making it very sensitive in the way you hold it even with a case.

Not saying you're wrong, but like, there's a lot of other categories of porn that I wonder why they exist and professional porn probably doesn't crack the top 25.
