Or we could explore a national system in which only the federal government could buy kidneys — from carefully qualified donors, after a significant period devoted to medical and psychological screening, and having obtained carefully informed consent. Those kidneys could then be allocated without regard to patients’ income

If we had a government that wasn't full of grifters, ghouls, and fascists, this could actually be a reasonable idea I guess.

if we're going to mess with organ donation the first thing to do would be to make it opt-out rather than opt-in and people who are weird about the supposed afterlife can take five more seconds at the DMV

Absolutely. It's wild that the option to help nobody is the default. But also amerikkka I guess so not surprising.

I’ve heard poor Irish children are an excellent source of nutrients, no one need ever starve again

But the second I say “you don’t need it!” to the billions these pigs are sitting on, I’m looked at like I have two heads. Yet here they are telling poor people they don’t need all their organs.

Sometimes I hope Samsara is real so they can be reborn as Preta.

Even if 90k kidneys were made available, I doubt the medical systems would be able to handle the work involved in doing all the transplants.

Let alone all the future complications caused when poor people (more likely to get diabetes for example) have kidney problems in the future, but with only 1 kidney.

(I did not read the article)

Can't seem to read the article but I'd expect nothing less from an economics Nobel prize winning high priest of the capitalist death cult

Did you try this link too? "Archived page not showing up? Click here."

Just tried it. Still nothing. I did try on chrome as well (without any extensions like ublock).

Both links now don't work me. I just get the ugly green/blue loading icon. If you still want to read it - maybe Archive.Today has it.

It did and the article is even more insane than I could have guessed.

I didn't read it but now I can't resist. I'll have a look later. I have a special hatred for the worst academic thinkers. The average chud might be a salvageable person. But famous, vile economists are the worst. They pretend to live the life of the mind. But instead they've spent their entire lives coming up with highly elaborate self-justifications for their horribleness along with their lust for fame, influence and a very cushy life.

It's the most banal justification for a legalized organ harvesting. The author knows full well that what he is advocating for will lead to human organ trade. Which is just wild.

And yes people like the author are the ones that built this imperial death machine. I mean I remember watching Oppenheimer and thinking how is it possible that this demon wasn't executed for genocidal war crimes. Instead we get a dogshit movie that tries to get people to empathize with a singularly evil monster.
