Most human design ever. When you inevitability become tired of being a human, your sink has a convenient off switch.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 14 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

What kind of asshole uses a white coverplate on an ivory outlet?

[–] OpenPassageways@lemmy.zip 5 points 20 hours ago

Seriously my house has 60 outlets and switches like that and they are all being replaced.

[–] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 43 points 1 day ago (8 children)

Plz tell me this is just AI slop and someone in this world didn't actually make a suicide sink

[–] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This predates Ai, it’s a sticker. You can buy them on Amazon.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

But it casts a shadow

It's the whole outlet cover stick on?

[–] InEnduringGrowStrong@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I've seen such stickers that have the shadow printed on them.
The illusion is more easily detected IRL than with a static picture.

There appears to be a shadow on the bottom of the sink too.

My guess is that this is an actual wall plate with shaved or whatever inserts for the plugs actually glued to the sink itself for the more realistic lols

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

That's what i would have done...

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 4 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

The shadows are part of the sticker.

[–] M137@lemmy.today 3 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

How did you not understand the comment you replied to at all?
And that's not the same sticker, there is absolutely no shadow outside of the outlet stickers in the photo you showed and it's clear, in several ways, from the post photo that it's not a sticker.
I really feel like you barely glanced on the post photo, had the information that there are stickers like what you showed in the picture and decided that you are correct based on that glance and knowing outlet stickers exist. It's extremely childish and stupid.

[–] Redjard@reddthat.com 2 points 9 hours ago

The left bezzel is extremely thin due to perspective, the right one thicker than it should be. Makes no sense to put that on a sticker unless it's purpose-designed to only work from one angle. Yours don't have this.

[–] urushitan@kakera.kintsugi.moe 2 points 14 hours ago

bottom of the sink too

[–] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The other shadows are straight down, yet that one has one on the side. It’s not casting its own.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's a shadow under the outlet too

[–] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Yes? If the light is overhead, of course there would be a shadow underneath, but both aren’t real, it’s not casting a shadow at all. The shadows are part of the sticker.

The weird different shadow is your hint that something’s wrong… it’s not proof it’s somehow real. Lol

Funny story, my friend's mounted microwave fell out of it's spot above the stovetop and asked me to come check it out. The outlet for it was inside the wall, just metal strapped to the gas line. He no longer lives in that condo.

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

It's like Midjourney released and everyone immediately forgot that Photoshop exists.

[–] frog@feddit.uk 7 points 1 day ago

Cutting through that sink would be a bigger hassle than putting it in a proper location.

Hopefully it is fake.

I've seen enough to know that even if this picture is fake, there is a 100% chance something like it actually exists.

[–] siha@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, it looks pretty real. Though it also looks like they could be renovating the kitchen and just messing around in the process

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago

It's not that hard to fake this

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Obviously you plug a suicide cable into it to block both ends at once. Can't suicide twice, therefore they must cancel each other out, problem solved. Just gotta make sure that cord is plugged in realll tight.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

My ex once lived in an apartment that had an outlet in the shower. This is plausible.

[–] postnataldrip@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

Turns every toothbrush into an electric toothbrush

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 3 hours ago

That's why they sometimes get electrocuted unclogging the sink.

[–] FrowingFostek@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Pshhh obviously fake. Everyone knows the interior sink mounted outlet gets a GFCI in the receptacle. Does anyone else smell toast?

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

All outlets “downstream” from a GFCI outlet are also fault protected, so they probably did the reasonable thing and put the GFCI in the bathtub and fed the line over to the sink. Obviously.

[–] Trex202@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was in an airport once looking for an outlet, spotted one from across the way and was quite disappointed to find out that they make stickers of outlets

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 5 points 1 day ago

I've seen a meme where someone was slapping those on a wall in public lol

[–] smuuthbrane@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

Now I can easily steam clean my toaster. Finally!

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 1 day ago

What blows first, the circuit breaker or the user's heart?

This person must raise electric eels.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

This frightens me on a deep, almost primal level

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

For the immersion blender obviously.
