US drug overdose deaths per year are at or above 100k since covid, making the Deaths per Million of population for the US something like ~300 these days.
the US hasn't had Estonian overdose numbers since those halcyon days of 2015, late Obama.

I know a lot of addicts, about 30 less than I did at the start of 2020. Fent seems fucking miserable based on being around people doing it, whereas the time my pal ended out scoring real ass heroin which is pretty rare and finding out it was the real deal after shooting it, dude looked like a rainbow appeared over his head by all accounts its really really awesome. So less people die and they have a better time...just do that

I might be talking out of my ass here (or the data is just fucked) but I think Finland has pretty solid harm prevention/reduction programs. Safe injection rooms and free housing for addicts and stuff like that. I don't think fent has made its way here either (it's all α-PVP, which I assume is safer). Though for the most part our drug policy is completely fucked, but not nearly as aggressively zero-tolerance as Sweden's seems to be.
That's good to hear my info is outdated and that they have some programs to keep people safe.
I didn't know that about Sweeden though. You'd think the country that hands out the Nobel would be more caught up on the science, that's a shame.
I'm very suspicious about some of these lower numbers. This is the kind of study where a country gets to look good by not looking at or properly documenting the deaths of marginalized people.
Portugal has a famously good and successful drug policy of them not being criminalized. So I get that one. People can get clean shit in known dosages and can use under some supervision
