cap-think Ahh, the burden of being a risk-taking entrepreneur, forced to make hard choices, like killing workers so that I can kill the workers who I send to kill foreign workers

timmy-pray Stupid Gallipoli needs to go so bad that the military collapses and I can afford seeing a doctor. May Iranian missiles rain down and deliver me dental care.

Gotta kick people outta the country so we can afford to pay for the healthcare we cut to afford to kick people outta the country!

A universal medicare would be cheaper than the current for-profit system. Americans don't lack healthcare because it is inherently expensive and they spend their money on killing brown people instead, they could easily have both but the ruling class has succeeded in rent seeking via the insurance industry (and its integration with tech, finance, and limiting supply via professional accreditation groups).

Though it is maybe a little true in the sense that if Americans ever threw off their false consciousness they might have a chance of coercing the end of that rent seeking regime, and in doing so, challenge imperialism a tiny, tiny bit.

Thank God for the black panthers. They have done more for this country than its so-called ‘patriots’.

By the way, FWIW some states are making a go at getting state level universal healthcare and if libs can pull that off and are serious, they have my critical support on that.

I'm confused? They're going to save a shitload on healthcare already when soldiers start dying?

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I hope they slash VA benefits and the GI bill while they're at it.

[–] isame@hexbear.net 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

[–] isame@hexbear.net 2 points 8 hours ago

Or after the draft.

How do you "consider" cuts on something that practically doesn't exist or are they considering cutting healthcare for the rich, because you can be fucking sure there isn't anything left to cut from those living paycheck to paycheck.

Iirc, the current American healthcare system is actually subsidised by a greater amount than the cost of universal health care - ie, the cost to the government of providing free healthcare to every citizen would be less than they are spending now. America doesn't lack universal health care because it's expensive, they lack it because the current system funnels staggering amounts of wealth to the already wealthy.

I know these guys have got just monster amygdalas, but it's still so impressive to see how terrified they manage to be of Muslims.
...Brown people are scarier than heart disease. Good going, boys, you really committed.

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 18 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

They ain't scared of brown people. They just want to secure the petrodolla

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 10 points 12 hours ago (2 children)
[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 13 points 11 hours ago

Dang we're forgetting column C. They wanted to cut healthcare either way.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 2 points 8 hours ago

Damn that's nicely animated

[–] Jew@hexbear.net 4 points 10 hours ago

I read that as pedodolla but that's really just the same thing

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 15 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Hot take, but I'd rather try to analyze things from the standpoint of who financially benefits from these decisions rather than do phrenology on them, much less assume that fear mongers are fractionally as afraid as they present themselves as.
