Gross sex stuff aside I am looking forward to the Tall Chinese DLC. It just makes sense to me.

All of you get the spray bottle. Locked due to incessant horny-posts.

how does that even work? is the chinese gubbermint putting hormones on the water? breeding the best potential basketball players in a top secret program?

[–] astutemural@midwest.social 9 points 12 hours ago

It's just better nutrition, man. That's it.

Quantifiable evidence of how effectively they're lifting people out of poverty. Incredible. Those are not rookie numbers.

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 5 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Were there really that many Chinese people in such poverty that childhood growth was stunted, in the 1990s?

I believe this is more about reaching the full potential that regular complete nutrition and not living economically precariously enable I think. Pretty sure that's me and my fellow whites are (generally) so much taller than our not so distant ancestors at least.

edit: Also, the uplift of people out of poverty in the 90s was still ongoing, I'm just not confident enough to speak with authority on it. In any case I don't think it would account for the dramatic on-going line go up effect here.

China was still mostly rice farmers in the 1990s.

This is terrifying if the trend continues. By 2040 the average 19 year-old Chinese girl might be 10m tall.

[–] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Who needs mecha when you have big girl?

And the curve is getting sharper. There will come a point where the infinitely average, infinitely 19 year-old, infinitely Chinese girl is infinitely tall.

This post + comments make me uncomfortable. What's with the implication with trump in the title? And the comments, being horny in response to just a chart about a single physical characteristic smells of fetishization.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 16 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I think it's just a shot at Trump being a pedophile. The horniness here could be toned down a bit though I agree.

[–] SwitchyandWitchy@hexbear.net 7 points 22 hours ago

I thought so. I think I'm bothered by it because the post is about something completely unrelated. This sounds like good news, potentially a sign of increasing food security and nutritional quality, and maybe decreased stress during adolescence along with other factors. And the title instead centers a horrible man and his horrible actions, and the comments don't actually knowledge these young women either other than as sexual objects.

itt: people who should keep that shit to themselves not keeping that shit to themselves

19 year old is a woman, not a girl

[–] cisco@hexbear.net 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Lol this is highly dependent on who you talk to. When I worked during college, my 18-23 year old female coworkers didn’t refer to themselves or each other as a “woman” but rather “girls.” In fact they scoffed at our manager because she criticized them for tardiness, saying it was “unprofessional for young women”, which they later confided to me to “no shit we’re not fucking old!”

But I’ve also met female students who are laser focused on education or corporate ladder climbing who refer to other people our age as “women”

[–] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm more interested in the nice height of girls than the mean height.

(Actually I'm not)

[actually this is all a bit, I just can't resist puns]
