I watched his questioning. He was fucking awesome!

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.today 8 points 6 hours ago

I'm glad he won this case, but he's also a transphobe.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Fyi Afroman may be a Trump supporter.

[–] x0x7@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

All presidents are evil. Bill Clinton embargoed Iraq to shift the news cycle off of his blowjob, and it killed a million children who had dependence on imported medical supplies.

Trump isn't special. Just one more cunt.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 57 points 11 hours ago

Fuck anyone who dances for Trump, including Afroman. I'm glad he won, it was the only correct outcome, but he can fuck off.

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 40 points 11 hours ago (3 children)
[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago

Afroman is a Windows 95 wallpaper set to Tile.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I’m not defending Afroman here, and 2024 you don’t get the “I didn’t know” pass, but, dudes a weed libertarian, not to be taken very seriously in the first place. Seems like he wasn’t very politically engaged before then.

Like Ron and Rand Paul, and broken clocks, and all libertarians, they are right twice a day, and they loooove crowing about it.

Let ‘em. The idea he’s promoting in this case is correct.

[–] naeap@sopuli.xyz 9 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, that picture kills the appreciation of Afroman pretty much entirely - and I'm quite sad about that...

Why in the fuck are we praising patriotism here? It's literally just religious-like devotion to a nation state, and basically result of nationalism

Without knowing either of those people, they might be just as patriotic and it's equally as bad.

[–] NewNewAccount@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I’m patriotic in the sense that I want what is best for my countrymen. I want that to be done in a manner where both me and my country are ethical and productive members of our global society.

This has nothing to do with blind, religious-like devotion.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

“Nationalism is an infantile disease, it is the measles of mankind.”

That being said, a lot of “normies” use patriotism as a stand-in for a certain set of beliefs. I don’t love it but the “Shining City on the Hill” is better than the Third Reich.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 11 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Wanting to improve your society is a form of patriotism.

America are the one who have convinced everyone it's the opposite

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

patriotism /pā′trē-ə-tĭz″əm/ noun

Love of and devotion to one's country.

Love of country; devotion to the welfare of one's country; the virtues and actions of a patriot; the passion which inspires one to serve one's country.

Love of country; devotion to the welfare of one's compatriots; the virtues and actions of a patriot; the passion which inspires one to serve one's country.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Improving your country IS serving it. Non Americans do it all the time, the act just isn't associated with the word because the US has a media industry built to hijack the meaning of things. Don't make me start talking all pro-social and hope pilled, I'm not that guy anymore.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Exactly. That's kind of the difference between being patriotic and nationalistic.

[–] MIDItheKID@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah it's so fucking backwards. I should be considered a patriot. I want Americans to have access to Healthcare and education. I want Americans to thrive and do great things. But no... Apparently the definition of patriotism over here is "I don't care about other people, I only care about me, and also, kill brown people in other countries"

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 3 points 7 hours ago

It could have been different. We're in the wrong timeline

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

my dude, why do you not love where you live? are you not connected to it?

[–] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 0 points 7 hours ago

Why in the fuck are we praising patriotism here?

Because it's a shitpost? We're not on .ml, and this isn't a politics thread.

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 21 points 11 hours ago

He cozied up to Trump apparently fyi.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 14 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

“Fuck the police” is literally why America was founded.

[–] Godnroc@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Disregard the establishment, surely; It was some time ago.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

And plan/build a worse establishment.

[–] Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

As bad as things are in the current moment I'm not sure theres a strong case that living under a literal monarchy with zero Democratic representation and no meaningful civil liberties was better 😅

The handful of merits of the American establishment may be currently disintegrating under the wright of neo-fascism, but the establishment the founders built, explicitly flawed though it was/is, is definitely a better establishment than imperialist monarchical British rule

[–] GalacticSushi@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I think the millions of slaves in America would disagree when the British empire outlawed slavery 30 years earlier without having a civil war over the issue.

[–] Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 1 points 4 hours ago

I am not the most knowledgeable on this subject but didnt they just do what amounts to slavery in their colonies like in India? They had colonial rule over India until like sometime in the 1900s didn't they? Like they were an imperial nation, I'm not sure it really matters if the the exploitation and bloodshed happened within their own landmass

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

Ironically, this is a rare instance where the guy plastered with flags is indeed the patriot

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (2 children)
[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

apparently he talked with Trump about legalization. he explicitly said "don't take that photo as support" and will probably use it as an "i was on stage with Trump 'cause I got high" lyric in his song because honestly, it would explain a lot. ever do something because you think it'll look funny later and then it turns out you just met hitler? because i have a couple photos from the 90s I can show NOBODY. afroman's from another time.

i can't remember when i saw afroman, because i was high, but it was a good show

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

sounds like a convenient excuse.

last time I was high I didn't do anything unless I wanted to do it.

point is, if you don't want your picture taken with a pedophile and convicted rapist, then maybe don't pose with them? or, at the very least, don't fucking smile like you're having a great time.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

my dude you are describing a nonfunctional high. afroman is high when he is out and about. there's some kind of functional in there but i don't want to read too much into a situation i don't know much about.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

still no excuse for associating with a known pedophile and convicted rapist.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world -1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

How dare they associate with them that one time my dude do you hear yourself? I do not like defending Trump associates but like, draw a line. I have talked with some pretty awful people. Same calibur bad. Convicted same calibur bad. Where do you rank me for having done outreach so prisoners still get to feel human? Gran worked as a nurse in some of the worst prisons. Everyone deserves dignity and respect, full stop. No conditions or parameters.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

you know. I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume you were just trying to be neutral. but honesty the fact that you believe that everyone can attain salvation in this context means are possibly one of three things.

  1. a "born again Christian"
  2. a troll
  3. a pedophile apologist

in either case I believe all those types of people are cancer upon society and deserve to be called out as the giant pieces of shit they are.

everyone is not deserving of dignity and respect. everyone is not deserving of love. there are some crimes against decency and humanity that just cannot be forgiven, ever.

crimes like raping children, killing children, trafficking children, torturing children, I think you get the general idea.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

I'm none of these things. I never mentioned salvation. I mentioned dignity and respect. Read the words I am saying, not the words you want to respond to.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 hours ago

Oh :( Seems the exception confirmed the rule

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

First guy looks like he's sniffing a pair of undies.

[–] plantfanatic@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 hours ago (6 children)

Isn’t it actually against the law/constitution to wear the flag as clothes?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 10 hours ago

It's against flag code, which is not law. It's just a set of guidelines.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

No. It's against flag code, but there is no real law or enforcement of the flag code. If you do break it, I will immediately assume you are not a patriot and instead you are a nationalist because you didn't take the ~5 minutes to look up the flag code.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 2 points 10 hours ago

I will only assume you have no taste, because it's just a flag and I don't care. But that looks horrible.

[–] seathru@quokk.au 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

I don't think patriotism and flag code are necessarily linked.

Example

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

Flag burning isn't against the flag code. Flexing your 1st amendment is definitely patriotic.

[–] hesh@quokk.au 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I think its against the flag code to wear an actual flag as clothes. Not to wear clothes that look like a flag.

[–] Battle_Masker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Not since like the 1970s

[–] silver@das-eck.haus 2 points 11 hours ago

No? Maybe like military flag code

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

The flag itself, but not clothes designed to look like the flag.

IOW: if you're caught in a sitcom type situation where you lock yourself outside of your house and the only thing you have available to cover your fetus production apparatus is the stars and stripes you fly on your front porch because you're a jingoistic weirdo, you're going to be breaking the law one way or the other.

Conversely, the above fashion faux pas is as legal as brandishing military equipment while shopping in some of the more backwards parts of the country.

Flag code is advisory and != law. If you're naked and wrap them bits in the flag, no laws are broken.
