"many people won't like it" we must do the unpopular thing in the popularity contest

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

They're still going to blame the voters when the Dems eat shit again in 2028

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Who else could possibly be responsible?

[–] haxboar@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Every Lilb post-election analysis: who-did-this

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

Wdym, they're blaming anyone not in the dnc or anything that wasn't deep throated support.

[–] axont@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Liberals treat elections less like appealing to constituents and more like a ritual in honor to an evil blood god who might offer very small blessings like healthcare if people just shut up and praise the blood god

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

the blood god also actively hates us and wants to see us suffer, so appeasing it is pointless

Was one of the few times I remember my mouth hanging open in shock that she could say something that fucking stupid on national tv.

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

At that moment everyone realized or should have realized she was going to lose.

I still can't believe they put that in the acceptance speech

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

She didn't know how to filter between the speeches she gave to the bribers and ones she gave to the public.

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

we just needed to make it even more lethal not just most lethal!

Fixing the MIC to get it ready for a real war would require overhauling it to work more or less like it did at the peak of WW2. That means 90%+ taxes, strict government oversight on all programs, business "owners" being more or less completely under Washington's control, etc. Never gonna happen in a million years - the current MIC is doing exactly what it was actually designed to do, which is provide a kayfabe for funneling public money into private hands and occasionally blow up poor people who can't fight back.

Democrats need to nuke the entire world because that's the only way to keep Americans safe

[–] MemesAreTheory@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

r/neoliberal would like you to find the difference between this the-democrat and this the-republican picture. (They're the same picture)

[–] cisco@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

One of them kills you and mauls at your corpse while the other asks for your consent before killing and mauling your corpse anyway

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

part-of-history At least they were polite about dismembering me.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Literally every person running for US president ever promises this, because otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to run.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s the only thing we make besides corn. They just know it would throw an ugly (but not system breaking!) wrench in their gears by admitting that we need to sell missiles to the baby killers because the “put the economy on a credit card” solution to the consumer spending decreases has begun to run out of motion.

[–] Fossifoo@hexbear.net 2 points 4 weeks ago

I heard there's no more urea now to grow the corn, so... Well there's always the private prison complex

[–] Lurkmore@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But what if we spent even more on the military is an insane take. Wish the parties would merge already.

[–] gayspacemarxist@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

They can't merge, the liberals are stuck desperately trying to prove to republicans that they aren't marxists.

The "current climate" as in the "climate that's currently baking the planet in no small part due to the single largest CO2 emitter in the world, the United States military"?

[–] Crucible@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"the current climate" as opposed to all the years before when it was fine and they wouldn't have wanted the dem to be a warmonger

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Dems haven’t been “doves” since Carter and we all know the truth about the Carter admin, it’s so fucking stupid that they still think this ghost of a stigma applies. Why? Because of a bunch of opinion makers who think cable news is still important, fucking bean counters that think they can see the future in landline cold calls to Meemaw, shit hasn’t been true my entire life and I’ve been around for four decades.

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

I think it's more like they don't care if they lose to the other half of their fascist party. Popularity just isn't that important to them, and there's no particular reason it should be. They are succeeding at the only thing they contemporaneously exist for: to ensure there's never a leftist who can win.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yet I still get push back when I say the-democrat and the-republican parties are essentially identical if you don't live in the USA (and they align for basically all internal issues too)

[–] goferking0@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

So many just refuse to see anything other than republicans and dems in the usa. Hell still blows their minds when people point out the liberal dem parties in othet countries are on the right.

[–] ColonelKataffy@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago

yes-honey-left healthcare pls

[–] micnd90@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Remember diet soda can be worse than regular soda. Diet Republicans can also be worse than Republicans

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

contextphobic And then I campaigned on "The most lethal military"

[–] BattleshipPokemon@hexbear.net 13 points 4 weeks ago

Rare voice of reason in the replies

[–] into_highest_invite@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 month ago

this worked out really well for the dems in 2024

[–] Transform2942@lemmy.ml 10 points 4 weeks ago

The problem with the US is
