The US is a barbaric, unequal society where 10 companies own everything. There's not really a compulsion to wear a burqa (which is a dubious premise). But an American has plenty of compulsions and limitations that are unique to them. Imagine if the young girls were required to stay in an abusive relationship if they wanted continued access to healthcare for a chronic illness or disability in a barbaric unequal society. That would be even worse than a burqa!

I was joking about them saying this and I did not expect them to actually say it. I thought they'd still with them being human shields or killed by Iran or just collateral damage or whatever. Saying death is preferable to being legally mandated to dress a certain way later on is, uh, a bit concerning even setting aside that the burqa thing is overtly inaccurate and you can see this from literally almost any video of a public space in Iran.

This feels like 2003 Islamophobia again but worse somehow. Reactionaries have had over 20 years to learn the difference between a chador, niqab, hijab, shayla, etc but do not care. It's all a burqah to them. Most iranian women from what I know wear a manto (loose headscarf) or a chador (full body cloak with an oval opening for the face). Full burqahs are more associated with the sunni minority in Iran, I think. If reactionaries truly believed in their bullshit they'd be calling for war against American allied Saudi Arabia, which is where Arab sunnis actually wear burqahs.
