I got a couple thou in the mail from Starbucks as restitution for violating my rights as a worker. For once in my life the law actually protected me to some degree so thats pretty nice
just got a nice nap for about 30 minutes before my kids woke me up.
I met my newborn nephew
Profit splits from the corp I work at dropped.
Basically an extra monthly wage that I don't have to put into rent.
My MIL's surgery went well and she's much more lively and relaxed now, thank God.
Maintenance went so quickly we managed to travel back home in the same day and don't need to stay at the hotel
my wife just made a great jumbalya. Its kinda funny as is smell like an old ashtray so she was worried it was ruined but the taste and texture is great.
Nothing crazy, but my dog fractured a tooth and I was very worried he would either have to have it pulled or have a big ugly titanium crown put on, at great expense. He went to the vet today for it and it turns out the fracture wasn't as bad as I thought. No root canal and crown necessary. They shaved down the sharp parts, sealed it with resin and he's good to go now! I'm unbelievably relieved and it cost less than expected. Easily the best thing that's happened this week.
And tomorrow I'm going camping with my dog and some friends too! That should be a fun time. It's unseasonably warm and while I wish it were cold, I'm going to enjoy the nice weather while we have it!
I went to Costco and got 7 shirts and paid only $38ish total.
Plus $3.05 for a giant slice of pepperoni and a pop.
Downside: I didn't get the pants I was hoping to find. But oh well.
My older kid just texted about applying to an internship …… it’s an environmental justice role using his technical skills for an indigenous tribe! WOKE AS HELL, even in this age of dystopia!
Finished a large Part of my Project which i need for my Masterthesis. I feel very relieved.
Two paid snow days in a row!
I picked out summer bulbs with my daughters. And we are looking forward to seeing them grow.
I'm a happily divorced dad. Had a lovely evening with my teenage daughter yesterday. We played cards, chess and some other cards game while drinking tea and chatting a lot. She won each game fair and square. After that great time I told her how much I value these moments, and she answered in the same way.
My wife and I had been trying for a child. Then she left me 2 weeks ago.
The best thing that happened to me this week was finding out she's not pregnant.
Also, instead of despair or grief over the separation, literally all I feel is relief.
Thats really tough, man. Im glad youre holding up okay for now. I'm happy for you to have dodged the baby bullet as well :)
It hit me like a semi truck, cause shit went sideways out of nowhere within 2 weeks.
But she's moved out without a fuss, our finances are separate, and I kept the cats.
Still kind of numb, but I also massively enjoy the quiet and relaxation right now.
The marriage was exciting, but it was also a constant whirlwind.
Thats wild, from married to moved out that fast. I'm sorry things turned out that way. I went through a shockingly similar experience last year, so I know how difficult that can be. Grief comes in waves and out of nowhere sometimes. Silver linings like kitties and quiet nights are the little things that can help a lot, I found.
Thanks for your kind words.
Yeah, I'm sure the grief will still come.
And it'll be hard to achieve my dream of becoming a father now, as a 41 year old single...
Im happy to try and share some positivity. It costs nothing to be kind after all. It might seem daunting or difficult now, but the only way it'll never happen is if you stop trying, you know?
I MET A CAT OUTSIDE AND WE CUDDLED FOR AN HOUR
My application for my SRS (sex reassignment surgery) was approved by my health insurance.
That's awesome! And a huge relief I'm sure.
My girlfriend has started her second chemo medication this week and the side effects are so much more manageable than the first's. We could even go for a hike on day two, which is way more than I had hoped for.
That's great to hear! wishing her a quick recovery 🙂
Thank you, I appreciate it!
My kid and I saw a helicopter air lifting stuff on a cable, from pretty close.
Caught it on video and he's crazy about it. We've watched it like a hundred times.
Well. I got sick on Saturday. Stomach bug.
The best thing that's happened to me this week is I was able to eat a few saltines last night.
Sounds like youre over the hump! Youre almost back to health! You got this! :)
Yeah, the week is looking better. Had a couple scrambled eggs this morning for breakfast and a baked potato for lunch.
If it all goes well, I can be back to eating the unhealthy crap I usually eat tomorrow 😁
Today is the 12th anniversary of the day I was physically disabled by a fuckwit driver while I was riding a bicycle to work. It is the first year in several where I do not feel existential or super depressed. I have plenty of reason to be, but all of it is deflected at the moment.
I ate a slice of $2.50 birthday cake. My life is really terrible right now.
Edit: birthday cake is cake with sprinkles baked into it. It's not my birthday.
Yesterday was payday
My boyfriend/fiance got their job approval from the imigration office :)
Had a relatively quick morning with my toddler on Monday, so decided I could afford to be 10 minutes late getting into work and had a special breakfast with her at a new little bakery/deli/breakfast-and-lunch spot that opened up nearby.
No idea if she'll remember it, but I know I cherish little moments like that from my childhood so I do what I can to make them for her.
One of the things I didn't really expect with having a kid is that even without going out of my way to make special memories there are small wonderful moments almost every day.
I finally got paid for a big job I did and now my new computer that I've been looking at for the past year is on its way to me. And, I have enough to get some Asian food for dinner which I like.
Deadlifted 150 kgs (330 lbs) for reps this morning. Not a huge amount, but still nice. Other than that, a pretty uneventful week so far. Spring is just around the corner.
Congratulations! Thats a milestone all the same! Just remember, way less people are fit than you think. Probably the vast majority of people couldnt do what you just did! Be proud! Youre kicking butt on your fitness journey!!
Quality time with friends is always refreshing ☺️
Getting to spend time with some of mine and going out to a concert were was the high point of my week.
I finished the first draft of my bachelor's thesis and now have time to move into a new apartment before I continue!
The best thing... depending on how I ask I guess. Either the day trip I made to two nearby towns (one of which is a rather well-known tourist spot) on Sunday despite the rainy weather, or the fact that weather rose to 20 C yesterday & was sunny so I made a nice stroll in the city
I trapped a mouse in my trash can and killed it. And then I fed the dead mouse to a feral cat that sometimes lives in my basement.
lol. Good for the feral cat and you I guess.
