This is the America conservatives wanted.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 hour ago

They still want it. Watching it play out pleases them.

[–] sadcylinder@ttrpg.network 9 points 3 hours ago

We need to turn ICE members over to the Mexican cartels.

[–] reluctant_squidd@lemmy.ca 24 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

That’s some medieval shit if they just stood around while she died.

I’m not sure what laws can be thrown at this, though I expect whatever they are, they won’t be nearly enough to truly have a fraction of the appropriate justice served to all involved in her death.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

then run away like the fucking cowards they are.

every single ICE agent in the nation is complicit in this gangnvio. they all should be locked and never see the light of day again.

the world will be a much better place when they are dead/locked in a dark cells without contact with the outside world

[–] pucker4676@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

That didn't happen with the Nazis and I doubt it'll happen with ICE.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

lots were locked up after Nuremberg.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Not a lot. A small percentage. Most went to Argentina and the US to live out full lives.

she was ALIVE FOR 20MIN. they dont want witnesses potentially to bite them in the ass later on. also most of them are likely the paramilitary groups that covenient disappeared around the time ICE started freely hiring.

We're going to need more community medics in the future who know how to treat life threatening bleeding. Our community put together a short guide on steps you can take to equip yourself with that life saving knowledge so you can help your own community.

Learn First Aid! ⛑️

It is equally, if not more important, to be able to keep yourself and others alive if they get hurt. This is a tremendously useful skill for anyone to learn, you can never have too many medics.

Tacticool Girlfriend provides a great introduction building a personal first aid kit, called an IFAK, which can deal with things like bullet wounds and other serious bleeding wounds. I also want to emphasize her recommendation of only buying medical gear from reputable sources (not Amazon!), such as North American Rescue to avoid fakes that could cost you your life.

But you'll need to learn how to use that equipment, too. The best resource for that is to take a local Stop The Bleed class, which are pretty widely available in most places. They may cost a small fee, but can also sometimes be free. Alternatively, if you cannot access a local class, this video by PrepMedic will give you a solid understanding of how to use Tourniquets and Gauze for wound packing.

Injuries are less harmful if they are tended to early. Learning first aid can help conserve resources when healthcare becomes unaffordable. Having several medics in case of harm by police is an extremely powerful morale booster during a protest that may become a police riot. When you become comfortable with the basics of first aid, riot medicine is the next suggested step.

Establish or join local Mutual Aid networks ✊

If you haven't already, get to know your neighbors. Mutual aid is a willingness to support and grow your community. This can include informal networks through friends, tenant/renter organizations, solidarity groups, and industrial unions.

These are groups using direct action to solve each other's problems. Building strong communities makes it difficult for fascism to take root. The actions of the government are going to hit every community hard, and the ones who build trust in each other and work together are most likely to survive. We've been building a list of resources in !inperson@slrpnk.net to help you on your way.

This isn't only for your own community protection. Your ability to organize today will change the political landscape tomorrow. When revolution occurs, the social organizations that show the greatest resilience through the regime are the ones typically calling the shots when the dust settles. When it comes to elections, get out the vote drives are useless if most of the voters are fascists. At some point, you have to do grassroots political education if you don't want fascist candidates winning elections. Mutual aid networks are excellent forums not only for teaching each other good political ideas, but demonstrating them in practice.

Someone was on-hand that self-identified as a physician and they were kept away.

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Yes. But not every person who is shot or hurt in the future will be surrounded by ICE. Someone may be hurt while ICE is retreating, or towards the back of a crowd where they can be dragged away to be treated by those around them. This happened very often in the Hong Kong resistance and the rebellion in Chile in 2019, where activists began to set up impromptu medic stations to treat the wounded and the gassed.

We have to be ready to support more and more resistance if we're to avoid them solidifying into a complete fascist takeover.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 67 points 1 day ago

I'd hate to die alone bleeding out on my steering wheel because of a fat, stupid, mentally deficient ICE agent who hates women decided I would be a stand-in for his mother that day.

[–] TipRing@lemmy.world 188 points 1 day ago (9 children)

Willful disregard for human life is the legal term I believe.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Don’t forget utter incompetence.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

That undersells it so much that it’s beneath mention.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago

Incompetence isn't a crime outside of specific licensed and regulated roles. Willful disregard for human life is a crime

New records from emergency responders obtained by The New York Times show that Good was not breathing but had an irregular pulse when local medics arrived at the scene, and had no pulse by the time they removed her from her car. This comes after an initial video captured by bystanders showed ICE agents screaming at a medic who offered help as Good lay dying in her car.

“Can I go check a pulse?” a man said after Good was shot, his hands in the air.

“No! Back up!” an ICE agent told him.

“I’m a physician!”

“I don’t care!” the agent replied, before another came up and said they had their own EMS on the way. They arrived and performed CPR on Good—who had two gunshots in her chest and one on her arm—before taking her to the hospital, where she later died.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Its murder. They all conspired in a murder. Even the president wanted this to happen. Conspiracy to commit ... they didn't care who, so long as the violence ramps up

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 23 hours ago

they wanted to test how far they can take it, so they can go even further. no-riot protest hasnt really solved much

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 52 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That "I don't care!" is what my kids shout when they realize someone saw them doing something bad and they're angry, sulky, and trying to save face. My kids aren't murdering people though. Unless I just haven't caught them yet.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Wait so she hadn't been shot in the head?

[–] ravenaspiring@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can be shot in the head and survive. I don't have statistics, but there have been many who have survived.

A 28 year old at close range. A 14 year old. 47 year old. Etc.

The point is that Good had an outside chance and these bastards don't give a shit about people they've shot.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (4 children)

My point is that people were spreading the narrative/rumor that she was shot in the head for some reason. It is possible to be shot in the head and survive, it's not as common as surviving gunshot wounds to extremities or even the chest cavity, especially if first aid and stop the bleed measures are started ASAP.

So for some reason, from the very beginning, there was a miscommunication being spread (whether intentional or not) that her survival was probably less likely than it actually was.

Even if that doctor hadn't been there and hasn't been prevented from helping, it also seems worth asking why all of the ICE agents who were present at the time had been issued fire arms, but none of the dickheads just standing around letting this lady bleed out, had any first aid training?

Seriously none of them? Nobody even had some kind of common sense inkling hat they should probably try to stop the bleeding? Not even the "war veteran" who shot her? Just more weird shit to add to the long list of how/why did shit go down the way it did that day. So many weird things seem like he set out to intentionally murder somebody that day, and not just because her wife had embarrassed him beforehand.

  1. Why did the ICE agent who allegedly had PTSD from being dragged by a car intentionally position himself in front of her car?

  2. Why was his safety already off when he grabbed his gun

  3. Why did he keep his phone in one hand filming while he shooting at a car that was moving towards him?

  4. Did none of the "trained federal agents" really not have any basic first aid training, despite some of them previously seeing combat?

  5. Why did they refuse to let the doctor help her?

  6. Who started the rumor she had been shot in the head?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

They probably think first aid is for pussies.

I know deeply how infuriating this was to watch, and I'm pretty sure that as bad as it feels now... things will get worse before they get better, and then when they get better a lot of serious shit is going to happen to every masked asshole in that video.

Either the system will rebound and we will have justice, or the system will NOT rebound and we will go get our justice.

So basically this proves every ICE agent on the scene was an accomplice.

I mean I feel like it's still an inarguable point as to WHY she was shot, but let's ignore even that part but why oh why did they deny her care after that? Can conservative sociopaths explain that part away, because they'll always argue about how she deserved it but did she deserve medical care?

Because at least actual cops still call an ambulance for you or let a Dr reach you

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's not even a stretch of the imagination to come to the idea that they'd say, "she disobeyed, therefore she deserved to die".

They eagerly dehumanize anybody who diverges from their strict ideals. Remember how Kristi Noem admitted to shooting her dog dead because it behaved like the big untrained puppy that it was? She told that story because they believe that is a reasonable response to an untrained, young and full of energy dog being disobedient.

In their mind, Renee Good was no better and deserved no better than that dog.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Plus, she was a mouthy lesbian with a wife mouthing off, too. And she was supposedly an ACTIVIST. How dare she!

The ICE "officer" naturally had no other choice but to summarily execute her on the street as judge, jury and executioner.

[–] tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

There are times cops have shot someone 30 or more times, who is clearly absolutely dead and they will still apply bandages and give CPR sometimes to give at least the impression of protecting life. To me the denial of medical care in this situation is even more proof of guilt than the shooting because they can argue they feared for their life in the moment, but they had ample time to provide aid and deliberately blocked it.

The murderer even went to check the body immediately after but then left, I would be unsurprised if he saw she was still potentially alive and they decided to block aid intentionally to make sure she was dead. I assumed she was shot in the face or head 3 or 4 times which would be unlikely to survive, but apparently she was wounded twice in the chest on the right side, once in the forearm and once in the head. I don't know the specific damage from the shot to the head, it's most likely she would have at least been in a vegetative state or have severe brain damage if she had lived, but to deny the chance of any aid for over ten minutes would seal the deal of a conviction for murder if I were a jury member in this case.
