when consistent branding supersedes accessibility in priorities

they've been addicted to copying apple's homework since 2018, even back when usability studies were showing android had the more accessible ux. but under capitalism, the market will always lead competitors to copy each other until all choice is washed away leaving de-personalization

GPU accelerated terminal emulators first came about in the mid aughts, though the modern ones that are good, the ones like gostty, really first showed up around 2015. the value for them is that rendering text can be a bottleneck in long-running operations on the terminal in a display environment (as opposed to a raw shell). i only know of one shell with ai features, warp, but i avoid proprietary tools that run system breaking actions so i can't speak to how bullshit is

because trying to talk to dogbert is the etirety of my persona. i ended up blocking the most active poster to that comm because their entire existence seemed to be punching anarchists while only supporting authoritarian politics, which i took issue with. what's funny is some of that behavior saw them getting a temporary ban, so… glad to know you judge me almost entirely on trying to encourage a fellow leftist on how to be a more effective communicator.

tell me though. what am i getting wrong about leftism outside of my zone. how can i be a more effective coalition builder as an anarchocommunist. what flaws am i exhibiting as someone who coalitions most easily with religious anarchists? i developed most of my class based politics growing up in poverty in the states and then talking to russians, Ukrainains, Cambodians, and people from Ireland about their experiences resisting oppressive governments.

i am very willing to adjust how i resist authoritarianism. none of us can be free until we are all free.

explain my politics to me, please, since you know them so much better than i do. tell me how my belief that we need to conduct coalition building in order to bring about a stateless, hierarchiless, moniless society is improper leftist thought. tell me how my belief that every society can be understood through the lens of how its economy works and we've been on a cycle of imperial fascists holding all the power for 12000 years (at least) and adopting the aesthetics of liberation is fundamentally pro-capital in nature.

i'd love to know where i can improve, bot you've just called me "the liberal" out of nowhere on a comment where i was fundamentally agreeing with you and encouraging others to understand that electoralism is not the beginning and end of resistance and that in order to create durable anti-fascist actions and bring about a good economic condition for all people they need to be doing more.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 4 points 6 hours ago (5 children)

yes. you know liberals. always encouraging others to organize on the margins in order to bring about a resilient insurgency movement to seize the means of production because electoralism will never save us, only stave off catastrophe long enough for us to get in order. how very liberal of me to do 🙄

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

i'm starting to think this is a poorly programmed bot based on how this poster is not engaging with the request for clarification and is trying to claim that stating that the rest of us don't understand what they are trying to say is an attack on their character

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 2 points 7 hours ago

which they didn't do. they said they didn't understand you, explained why they didn't understand, and then asked that you either explain or restate.

you abusing the definition of ad hominem seems like a gish gallop

no one who ever runs for elected office will ever be perfect. it's still part of our movement to put better than the worst people into the office while we organize on the margins.

don't let perfect be the enemy of good, but don't forget to never accept good enough as good enough

it did, but this is about electron, which isn't relevant to sublime. sublime's plugins mechanism is a little different from atom, which is much more like emacs

so the cashier knows where one customer's groceries end and the next begin. this feels like she's going to punish herself, buying his groceries, out of pettiness, i guess

I was just perusing the modlog when I noticed something interesting. Apparently posting news about Gaza/Palestine is not allowed on !worldnews@sh.itjust.works. I decided to check the side bar and didn't see anything. The only pinned post also does not indicate that this is not allowed

edit: the mod in question is @Eyekaytee@aussie.zone . sorry for not originally tagging. i hadn't realized it was a rule that this must be done. i thought it seemed inappropriate since i was trying to initiate a conversation about a community's rules and culture rather than start drama about an individual

Not 100% Solarpunk, but it introduces people who aren't already solarpunks to some of the stuff people who self identify as solarpunks spend time thinking about

context: they're going out of business

there's something beautiful that every individual has their own image for what Baberaham Lincoln looks like. like you read that, and it evokes for you in your head your very own Baberaham Lincoln

I just want to have a discussion about this. All of the remakes and reboots hollywood has done throughout its history have always been a way of just making money by putting all the money on "sure" bets, things that producers already know people like because they were successful before, but there's something exceptionally soulless about the Disney reboots.

There seems to be no true desire to introduce a new generation to stories they weren't familiar with, but instead a desire to just rewrite disneys entire catalog to be presented in a new aesthetic. It's a homogenization of film to a single set of techniques and looks. Capitalism is directly strangling creativity and it's being successful enough that it's seemingly never going to stop. I mean. They're rebooting movies that aren't even 20 years old yet at this point. There are people in college seeing promos for reboots of movies their parents took them to as kids.

It's creating this environment where we're all stuck in this moment that already passed. The media we consume now was written in response to events that happened already, have passed us by, and can no longer be addressed. Any attempts to make new media that meet our current moment are stifled by studios who just... Don't care.

Well y'all finally went and did it. You got me to comment in your community, so now I gotta post something before I leave. I hope you're happy. I mean honestly. Is this what you wanted? Do you like this? Do you like my shitty shit post?

Don't ever let it be said I don't follow the rules

Posting from my alt account because file uploads seem to still not be working on beehaw

For the screen readers: This is a very small preying mantis that was on my door this morning. It is about the length of my first finger's first bone (the finger tip).

Lionir elected to prevent any potential data leaks by shutting down Beehaw until the issues lemmy.world and lemmy.blahaj.zone are identified and resolved

Not much to add. Saw it in another technology forum and thought it also belonged here for the solarpunks
