If i was a game dev and the white house posted somethibg like this with my game i'd just post "kys" as a quote tweet and never ever ver aclnowledge it again

I think there's something to be said for legal action

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

lmao suing hitler cause he violated your copyright

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It'd at least be fun to see the destruction of copyright law if your interpretation is correct.

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It won't be destroyed. Only selectively enforced, like the rest of the laws.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think it's already on track to only be selectively enforced given the AI situation, but there's a difference between selectivity that can hide behind the facade that there's a confounding difference between two circumstances versus one that absolutely cannot make such a claim.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

You seem to be under the impression that words have meaning and if people speak inconsistently that that would be a problem for them

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Every time a corporation or government body tries to appeal to pop culture I die a little inside.

Also Stardew is anti-capitalist you harsh dang dingus

[–] bobs_guns@lemmygrad.ml 39 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think it's anti-capitalist, or at least it wasn't when I played it last. It's more about "the evil, horrible bourgeoisie are crushing the pure and wholesome petit bourgeoisie."

[–] optissima@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh you missed the plot where the moment the Joja leave Pierre reveals his true colors

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Could you elaborate? I was only faintly aware that there was a story and not just a dating sim and quest system

[–] machiabelly@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Pierre, the owner of the wholesome Mom and Pop shop says its his dream to expand and get as big as jojamart. Sooooo when you spend all that time removing his competition you're just creating a power vacuum for him to fill

Is there any further characterization on this?

I thought CHUDs hated Stardew because it is wholesome and girls play it and it involves gay.

Or is it one of those things where it is too popular for them to denounce it, so they have to pretend to like it so they don't look (more) foolish?

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago

No, I think it's just that they went "Popular Farm Game" into Google and then had the AI make the image

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

MAGA woman probably made this.

[–] invo_rt@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

This shit is so cringe. It's made all the more insufferable because I know no one will pay a price for the admin's crimes.

Those mixels are just horrid. Also, the gold number is dogwhistling another Trump term, which I am not particularly fond of.

[–] KoboldKomrade@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

I don't care to check how many war criminals we've had, but he was #45 for term one iirc. So not only is this implying he's running again in 3 years, but that he was president during Biden's terminal stay.

Incredible amounts of cope. 10/10. Couldn't be more petty if I tried myself.

The ending that somehow is the worst of both worlds between Joja and Pierre

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

These mutant cumskins and their ability to digest lactose as an adult is an affront to nature. Yakub what have you done??!

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The fuck do they mean by whole milk? Raw milk I'd understand them saying, but I'm pretty sure I can go to the grocery and buy whole milk right now.

[–] DasRav@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Were you expecting competency?

[–] CrispyFern@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

It is a kulak simulator...

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

CHUDs ARE “fellow kids” so I can’t really do a fellow-kids joke.

Fuck, is this what it feels to be getting old? Yeah, chuds always have been the “hip” crowd, but still.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, chuds always have been the “hip” crowd, but still.

Surely you jest?

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yes and no, the soy right is hardly new, this fellow kids has been going on for a while.

Raegan is some Hollywood ghoul, for instance.

lol the vibes this gives are those of a senile removed rambling to farm animals who equally don’t give a shit

Donald spends his time milking cows, and talking to Abigail, the schoolage child who lives with her parents

spoilerAbigail is also featured in the screenshot on the marriage page on the stardew valley wiki lol, realising Abigail is a child made me put the game down and never pick it up again

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Where did you get the idea that Abigail is a child?

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

POWER DYNAMICS because she's under the age of 35

Do you disagree?!

[–] bobs_guns@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 week ago

30 is certainly school age, she should be going to medical school at that age, or enrolled in residency. Definitely too young to be eligible for marriage, dating, or any affection whatsoever.

maybe let women have hobbies??

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

She, along with the jock who lives with his grandparents, and the rocker kid who lives with his parents, feel teenage coded, but i haven't got enough "heart events" or whatever to learn their complete backstories. Some of the abigail events are about how she's not a "little girl" anymore and rebelling against her small business tyrant dad, which feels like she's implied to be a teenager

There's also the goth guy that lives in his parents basement, but he's apparently the older half sibling of the also teenage-coded girl who's apparently a nurse, which would make her early-mid 20s at least and him older than that

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I never got that vibe, given that they hang out at a bar in the evenings.

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I feel like this might be a small town / less affluent town thing. I always just assumed some of the young people in Stardew have that slightly arrested development and same living situation as they would as teenagers like lots of people who grew up in the country or towns that were hard to get out of do.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

makes sense, even if they wanted to move out there aren't any apartments to rent, and barely any jobs. just live with your dad and work part time at walmart while waiting for your music project to make it (it won't)

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's intentionally ambiguous to let players of different ages project a little bit because there are only so many romance options and they need them to appeal to/be compatible with as many people as possible. It's why they're mostly archetypes with maybe a unique detail here and there.

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Have you never met a young adult who lives with their parents?

[–] SootySootySoot@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago

Especially out in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Or like, in half of all countries where it's normal to have an intergenerational household.
