The oil industry is excited about stealing oil because they really just want to sell it for less, they're doing all this so they can sell oil for less very-smart

I really want these people to explain how removing a competitor from the market causes prices to go down, and why gas prices skyrocketed during the Bush administration when this exact thing happened

It's fucking insane how many people think we actually control Venezuela right now. Like the entire government and populace isn't mobilized and pissed at the US.

I can only hope a wakeup call is delivered soon.

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 14 points 5 days ago

Even people I respect are making this mistake.

arsenal of advanced weaponry & colossal air craft carriers delivering those weapons : completely free

occupation forces to guard the captured oil infrastructure : unbelievably, also free!

Every good American knows that 150% of our taxes goes to support welfare queens.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 5 days ago

But they get really mad when showing it's the corporations not minorities that are the actual welfare queens

We had "fee oil" during the Bush years and 2007 happened anyways. We're way past the point of increasing input = increased output. This is even more tragic because people are dying due to imperialism that won't even work how the imperialists want. Resources won't save us from the AI crash or whatever looming bubble we don't know about. If anything it will cause a shock worse than doing nothing. You'll get all this oil, increase energy output to support AI and then AI shrinks 80% overnight. Now all those energy jobs and resources are worthless since it too must shrink. Deflation is a thing too, chuckles.

Bring back the draft, but only for Dim Fool and he's given a knife and airdropped in Venezuela with the task of getting the oil.

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 9 points 5 days ago

Economy booms when prices plummet

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 16 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

shale oil producers would be extremely happy about oil at 55, at 50 they would start yapping about bailouts lmao, pity for them they are little business dipshits. while chevron getting venezuela oil reserves on the books without even working them will pog on theirs little cute business model.

regional banks would also be elated about shale oil collapse. like i've seen theories that this releases usa vs iran/straight of hormuz, but venezuela oil production is tiny compared to that issue, nor will it ramp up that fast, more like 5 years at best.

I thought during the Obama administration, right-wing pundits claimed low oil prices would crash the economy.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 14 points 6 days ago

This is disgusting

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

we can all have one big diddy party with all the free oil coming our way

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This insecure idiot doesn’t know anything. He doesn’t know anything about the economy, he doesn’t know anything about world politics. He has been confirmed to be paid to say this shit. His legacy is being a stupid shill.

This is the same bozo who invested in foil Mana Crypts (a Magic: the Gathering Card) right after they had been reprinted and then banned (causing their price to drop from like $600 to under $50 overnight). Everyone who knows even the slightest bit about M:tG "investing" knew how silly this was. Tim Pool did it anyway.

hell yeah, setting up some empty barrels outside so when the military parade goes by my house i can collect all that free oil they'll be spraying everywhere.
