Do y'all add various warm, aromatic spices to y'all's egg salad sandos?

Or is your French toast bland as hell and covered in mayo?

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Curry egg salad is lovely.

Mayo is egg and oil, so yeah my french toast is kinda covered in it.

[–] ngdev@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

bread is flour and leavening agent, so yeah my dick is covered in bread

your french toast is not covered in mayo bc it has the ingredients of mayo. thats like the whole point of this post lmfao

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes that’s the whole point. Beginning of the comment thread was implying that they have different ingredients, no spices in egg salad and no mayo in french toast. They have the same ingredients. Oil, egg, bread. Not sure what you’re trying to argue against or why you dipped your dick in flour.

[–] ngdev@lemmy.zip -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

it was a joke that i have a yeasty penis. its not mayo tho and that was the only point. and acting like bc it has the same ingredients its the same is pretty stupid. mayonnaise is a completely different experience and you know that

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Again it's not mayo it has the ingredients of mayo. Having the same ingredients but being different is the whole point of the post.

[–] ngdev@lemmy.zip -1 points 1 month ago

we're saying the same shit

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I feel like scrambled eggs and mayonnaise may be a bigger winner here

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 11 points 1 month ago

French toast does not have to have sugar or cinnamon on it. Savoury french toast (or I grew up calling it eggy bread) is still delicious so you can fuck off with that "bland" accusation!

[–] DokPsy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Mayo is basically just whipped egg so it's not even a factor. Maybe not the same spices but you could, if you wanted

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

It's egg whipped with a large amount of fats. And whatever other flavoring you like. If nothing else, the amount of extra butter/oil is untenable.

And going the other way: you add an "appropriate" amount of cinammon and nutmeg to your now-Christmas egg salad, and let me know how it goes for you.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Eggnog salad sandwich.

[–] nightofmichelinstars@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The OP said some ingredients; it didn't mention same quantities of ingredients.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

yeah, if you wanted to be pedantic, you could add a single crumb each of the various spices that go on French toast to egg salad.

this whole thing is vaguely worded

[–] RecursiveParadox@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ya know, if offset by some sharp peppers and curry, the cinnamon and (tiny bit of) nutmeg could work!

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

As I said it, I was also imterested in how you could make that work. But I'm not culinarily skilled enough to conceive of anything.

It feels like it would become more of an art piece, a conscientious objection to the orthodoxy of egg salad, than what (I think) people expect from an egg salad [sandwich]. Which is to say: egg and mayo, slightly sweet and creamy. I do like the idea of like a deviled egg salad sando tho.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Mayo is an emulsification of egg and oil.

Simply whipping egg results in merangue.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 44 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I don't recall ever having French toast made with mayo, onion, and celery. Nor have I put sugar and nutmeg in an egg salad.

[–] Geth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sugar and nutmeg in french toast???? Ewwwwwww!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 15 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What... Do you just soak the bread in egg and call it day?

I also forgot that my egg salad doesn't have milk in it, either.

[–] dvlsg@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I usually put the (powdered) sugar on afterwards.

Egg, cinnamon, bit of milk, and a splash of vanilla for me.

Still definitely not a good egg salad though.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago

Ah, forgot the vanilla too! Been a while since I made french toast.

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mustard for me.

I mean there is bread and egg, but then the similarities differ a lot.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mustard for me

I surely hope you mean in the egg salad, and not the French toast.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 43 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Simple, Tortilla de patata and fried egg with fries.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Chicken burger and Cesar salad

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

This makes me unreasonably mad. As a kid, I used to eat my burger into layers (I don't know why) and got yelled at by a teacher, who was eating a chicken Caesar salad.

[–] wet_bones@lemmy.4d2.org 17 points 1 month ago

I didn't know if this is cheating since it's all the same dish, but biscuits (flour, milk, fat) and gravy (flour, milk, fat) are two different foods with the same ingredients.

Beer and bread

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So, you could say that the mayo makes the dishes different, but mayo is made from eggs and oil. I think mayo also requires a bit of acid, like citrus, which is a little weird on french toast.

[–] doughless@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I love a bit of lemon glaze on my french toast.

[–] tino@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

'Bury me deep but gently' is underappreciated.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

not the same ingredients

this just in, random internet people are dumb

[–] TypFaffke@feddit.org 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What do you mean no similarities? They are both a sandwich

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's not really how French toast is served.

[–] GratefullyGodless@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

The Count of Monte Cristo sandwiches would like a word with you.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago
