You can get banned there for such a multitude of things, you'd have thought 'Being in prison for trafficking children' was on that list. Apparently that's fine, though.
Hot take but none of these admins should be anonymous. If you don't want the responsibility/risk then let someone else do it. Crazy how the biggest subreddits are being ran by secret groups coordinating outside of reddit itself.
They just don't give a shit anymore, they basically toppled down the world order that at the very least claimed to care.
It also doesn't really matter because Reddit has gone from trying to create centralized subs to doing the thing of putting everyone into their own cattle processing bubble. Try creating a new account and subscribing to the conservative sub if you want to experience how far to the side the rabbit hole goes. This is why young people are getting radicalized, their parents have no clue how their social networks are radicalizing them because they are getting a very different experience than them.
Incidentally and seriously, a few days ago I tried doing account recovery to the outed Ghislaine Maxwell email on reddit to see if I could get a confirmation whether she had had an account on reddit or not. Unfortunately, the page was fortified against that sort of account presence checking vector, I just find it funny that it seems to have coincided with her return to worldnews - I doubt I was the only one to try it. I also tried to access the account with some of the passwords that had been leaked.
Previously, a person who had claimed to work in the legal field had claimed ownership of the account in internal conversations and had denied being Ghislaine Maxwell. Which makes sense, her lawyer's are not her, and they acted in about the same way legal representation wanting to keep things undercover would act. She also attended the same events in Silicon Valley as reddit CEOs did, like Ellen Pao revealed. There's also a lot of work showing the coincidences between the posting / comment frequency and real life events Ghislaine Maxwell attended, and comments that were at least apologetic to pedophiles.
After trying to recover her account, it's the first time I ever got an account really shadowbanned and confirms that they've either begun to implement more stringent browser fingerprinting on their end (sessions were different but on the same machine and no browser obfuscation was present) or that they already have had it for quite a while but only seem to care to track them in certain cases. The account itself was rather new and benign, having tried to play nice avoiding controversial takes, so no cares given.

I got so sick of that subreddit years before I left Reddit. They basically want nothing to change at all, and are very condescending about how great they think things are going.

He wasn't actually a mod of it like people say he was just part of the administration team at Reddit at that point and they awarded the mod of Jailbait a custom badge. Still super weird, but yes you're right he was never a active mod there. (Edited for clarity)
He did edit comments made about himself though because his feewings got hurt which is completely unacceptable as well. Fuck Spez.
He was appointed a mod, which could happen without the user approval at the time. But he remained on the "mod team" until the sub was shut down a few years later.
Yes but wasn't an active mod just was put on the list like anyone could have been at the time.
The Pimp Daddy award that they gave the active mod of that subreddit though is much more problematic in my opinion because that was a decisive decision.

How odd that she would go back to her old Reddit account after we've all figured out it's her 🤦🏼♀️
I wonder why she wouldn't just start over with a whole new Reddit account.
Part of the thrill of reddit is anonymity, and her reddit account WAS fairly anonymous, although her reddit username is kinda close to her real name, nobody cared who she was until she was in the news, we started putting clues together, and figured out it was her, noticing how the timing of her incarceration aligned with the date her reddit account was abandoned.
Weird however after she was in jail her account started to delete incriminating things. If she was in jail with no access to her reddit account, who was deleting her self-incriminating reddit posts & comments? Who else could it have been but her lawyer?
Indeed all very odd. Most odd of all r/worldnews adding the account back as moderator when Maxwell got released from the top security prison, despite knowing about the conspiracy.

It's been a while, but I thought the theory that MaxwellHill was Ghislaine had been debunked, And it turned out the user was some guy in Malaysia who lived near a place known as Maxwell Hill?
It's entirely possible I've fallen for a smokescreen, but also there never seemed to be a whole lot of evidence that account was Ghislaine's other than the name "Maxwell", which is pretty common.
No that "debunking" doesn't hold up. It's not a Malaisian man.
this claim started to look suspicious when people found that MaxwellHill had mentioned he/she had "visited" Malaysia before (which is not something one typically says about one's home country).[2]

Most interesting development is the timing of when the MaxwelHill got added to the mod team again.
The account itself does not appear to have a post history since Ghislaine got "freed". So adding it to the mod team of one of the biggest Reddit subs at that timing is just... Weird...
