shouldn't surprise anyone considering spez used to mod r/jailbait.
So wouldn't surprise me if she and her husband were buddy-buddy with Spez at some point. she clearly is still buddy-buddy with someone in the admin team or higher or simply several reddit mods.

Unless there's more to that, the spez claim is probably bullshit. Obama was a mod of r/jailbait. Anyone could be added as a mod and they didn't have to accept.
He wasn't actually a mod of it like people say he was just part of the administration team at Reddit at that point and they awarded the mod of Jailbait a custom badge. Still super weird, but yes you're right he was never a active mod there. (Edited for clarity)
He did edit comments made about himself though because his feewings got hurt which is completely unacceptable as well. Fuck Spez.
He was appointed a mod, which could happen without the user approval at the time. But he remained on the "mod team" until the sub was shut down a few years later.
Yes but wasn't an active mod just was put on the list like anyone could have been at the time.
The Pimp Daddy award that they gave the active mod of that subreddit though is much more problematic in my opinion because that was a decisive decision.
And lemmy is full of people that say the tienamen square massacre was good and actively deny the uyghur genocide.

It's a federated network and you can block .ml, grad, and hexbear yourself or chose an instance that is already defederated from them.
Useage of lemmy spreads the software and increases donations to the creators regardless of if you federate with them or not.
We're getting into some pretty third-order issues at this point, I don't think the nazi bar metaphor really holds up anymore
It's like paying working in the same town as the Nazi bar. Maybe your taxes do end up keeping the roads and sidewalks that do go past the bar, but to say that's supporting the bar is a stretch
