Reason 1: my kid loves it.

Reason 2: it genuinely is good music.

Reason 3: it’s a good movie. Watched it along multiple times by now and it still is entertaining.

Reason 4: this movie pisses of conservative religious nutcases.

Reason 5: it’s a wonderful story about forgiving yourself and others, inclusivity, overthrowing evil tyrants, overcoming differences, growing,…

Reason 6: somehow this movie pisses of conservative religious nutcases.

What can I say? The music is good and catchy as fuck. Incredible vocals, great production, great lyricism. Nothing to be embarrassed about

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

it might have just been me, but when i streamed the movie it looked about 20fps instead of the standard !<24. gave it a neat, stylized pseudo stopmotion look, but after half an hour of watching (and a few years in a stopmotion studio) i got rather tired of it.

[–] BanaramaClamcrotch@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago

The movie itself was fine, I wasn’t blown away by it. Idk about your animation issues, but I thought the animation was fun as heck. For a movie experience I’d probably give it like 6.5-7/10. Again, a fine movie… nothing really groundbreaking in terms of story telling and writing. The magic is all in the music and the characters, I think. Which cuts to the core of KPop fandom, I think.

Haha! I live in Korea and have a daughter who was not-so-briefly completely obsessed with this movie. I know all of the words at this point. English and Korean. I didn't mind at first. It's starting to drive me a bit nuts, now. Also, it is some pretty blatant propaganda for the grist mill that is the Kpop industry. Despite the subtle nods to the contrary.

I don't fuck with Spotify due to their ice ads but yes it's mostly kpop and hamilton

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago

Without having a local library, it really sucks cause Pandora is airing the ice ads too.

We're going up up up!

Seriously, I'm sorry. I was listening to Utada and suddenly golden came on. Since I was blasting Utada I let it play thru. So sorry!

Someone must have heard it as I drove by and the rest is history. Just a few more times guys. We're so close. Again, I'm sorry. Just turn the radio off for a couple of years. Or hey, It's Christmas! All I want for Christmas is you! Play that a few times to reverse the effects.

Yes, "parents".

On account of Dan Ek's bullshit, have cancelled Spotify this year in favour of Qobuz, and am much happier all round.

Last year's 'wrapped' was just AI generated slop. After a year of listening to metal and electronica, got a top five of stuff that I'm not sure I'd listened to at all. Who would have thought the great plagiarism machine, trained to produce the most average output from any given input, would not do well on input that diverges from the mean?

I'd probably have preferred a completely random K-Pop selection; might have been an interesting listen, try out something new.

[–] Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 days ago

My listening age was 82, but my top songs were mostly Saja Boys.. It was then that I remembered my account is linked to the Nest.

Nothing but the truth now

[–] InvalidName2@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is this like the same deal as that year all my coworkers with young kids posted their preferred music service's annual music analysis report and a whole bunch of them had Baby Shark and similar songs in the top 10?

Well the difference being this song is good

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Ate parents listening to this? I'm so confused by this wording.

[–] StarvingMartist@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)
[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Ohhh! Thank you. I'm not a terribly bright person.

Awwww, thanks homie. A random Internet stranger's opinion is much more important than the people I share DNA with and the randoms that are scared of me because I'm gigantic.

There is no sarcasm in this statement.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

You're very welcome! To me you aren't just a random stranger, you're Furryosa's dad! XD

How gigantic? I'm 6' (163cm) and 375lb (170kg) myself XD

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago

Also free Furryosa pic!

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

6'6(2m) at about 275lbs(125 kgs). Not a brag,I would gladly be smaller if it meant less back issues.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Nice! I know that feeling

If I could choose to have good knees but be a foot shorter, I'd do it without a second thought XD

[–] StarvingMartist@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Tbf I downloaded it on a whim and I love it, no kids tho

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Its great for the first time. Then it loses its shine. Then it becomes a chore. Then it becomes akin to silence. Then it makes its way into manifestos.

Gotta drink every drop

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 1 points 6 days ago

I don't even have children and if i didn't ditch that asshole company, it would probably still show up.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don’t know what this is

And at this point I’m afraid to ask

The song at the end of K-pop Demon Hunters

[–] DrunkAnRoot@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i perfer when my music app doesnt know what i listen to

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

This is why I rename all my music files to nonsense before I add them to my library.

[–] mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud 49 points 1 week ago (11 children)

What's a Spotify?

Is it like jellyfin?

No, more like Navidrome. Jellyfin is more like Nexflix+, I think.

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 38 points 1 week ago

I think it's something like an iPod, but you have to constantly keep paying to use it.
