Christmas fruit punch is an infusion that is consumed in Mexico, traditionally in December during the posadas and on Christmas Eve, although there are also people who start consuming it from September for the national holidays and from November during the eve of the day of the dead (mainly in Mexico City and its metropolitan area).

It is prepared by boiling the ingredients in large quantities to be served during typical Christmas and winter gatherings. Traditionally, it is served very hot in individual clay pots with portions of fruit, and may or may not contain a spirit (often rum), which is added after boiling to prevent evaporation. One of the main ingredients, which gives it its blood-red color, is hibiscus water (made by boiling hibiscus flowers in water to release their red coloring). The basic fruits are apple, guava, and tejocote (Mexican hawthorn).

Mexican ponche may or may not contain alcohol and is served hot. The version with alcohol is called "ponche con piquete" (spiked ponche) because it has a "piquete" (spike) of tequila, rum, whiskey, red wine, or champagne, presented as a traditional hot infusion or as a cocktail.

This drink is commonly found at street fairs set up outside churches, where it can be enjoyed with buñuelos (fritters) or tamales. It is also sold at Christmas markets in Mexico during the famous Guadalupe-Reyes Marathon.

It is also traditionally consumed in Guatemala, even before the holidays. Fruits such as papaya, melon, and apple are used, along with sweeteners like sugar, honey, and/or cinnamon.}

School's back, vegan slop drop: chana saag, makki roti, kachumber salad

Today was really annoying because before break I was like "hey sous chef you wanna talk my menu before we leave or should i just plan on putting out the chili and okra I have leftover in the freezer" and they were like nah do that

So I was planning on just comin in and putting that stuff out and making cornbread before i start for tomorrow

Well i come in and the menu diagram has me doing chana saag. The executive chef comes in and he's like yeah do chana saag

So like i had no plan and just googled sides

I was worried the makki roti turned out bad (it tastes wonky to me, too little salt or too much chili powder idk) but the Indian lady i work with was like no these are perfect

Sick and tired of being """"pythonic"""". I'm going to make all of my variables random 4 letter combinations (without checking for collisions) and there's NOTHING you can do to stop me!

The Cartel de los Soles is a real drug cartel embedded in a military, but it's not the Venezuelan military. It's embedded in the highest levels of the American military and intelligence community.

It is kind of wild how streaming services will make films that are exclusive to cinemas or even festivals for months and are shot in an aspect ratio TVs don't have. All because the oscars won't let you in if you release to streaming. Free your mind from the oscar cage netflix execs, nobody has cared about the oscars since somebody got punched on stage.

apparently in addition to a user on here saying very nice things despite just seeing a pic, and my indian boss saying it was v. good, I guess an Indian student told one of the salad bar workers that my chana saag was so good they like called their mom to talk about it

makes me feel real good ngl, I'm an ignorant uncultured cracker who's never even eaten chana saag other than what I've made at work, so it's like, very validating to know that I'm a good enough cook to just read about stuff and vibe out a flavor that matches an authentic cuisine (despite never having eaten it)

I wanna do more indian stuff because it seems like, no surprise given the size of the country and subcontinent, like several entire countries worth of cuisine in there. I was reading about various chaat like this aloo chaat here and it's like jfc that looks great, I could do all that (if they'd buy the spices and stuff, we only have garam masala, no chaat masala, we don't really use a lot of tamarind, etc) and guess what there's like 10 billion variations of sick ass little snacks like this

Broke away from my worst habit and it feels nice, identifying the trigger what I sought out of it and the reality of the outcome is what did it for me. Slowly taking this to my other habits like stress eating now that I know myself. Feeling in control is probably gonna feel great someday but now it just feels like I'm on a ship doing my best to navigate rough waters. I am a big beautiful boater

Kinda surprised to see that there is still a little bit of momentum for a Palestine protest in my uni. Just the smallest thing, but these goats went straight to the administrative office and are outside it.

Kinda worrying that this seemed surprising to me or that the demands aren't widely known. It seems like something the admin can just ignore and later publish a manipulating article about on the common uni media (the ones they purged and filled with loyalists after the pre-"ceasefire" protests).

My uber was a Tesla yesterday and are you fucking kidding me? this is what people are creaming their pants over? It’s literally just a car with DoD tech which isn’t surprising whatsoever considering the subsidies

Why are people so dumb

God must look real weird if he built us in his image

Like does that mean he has organs and blood too?

Does god have a booty?

Why did he build us to be oily meat robots? Is he a meat robot?

Was going to post an article to theory about using the theory of alienation empirically, but the paywalled science platforms have made it impossible to even copy/paste this stuff anywhere. Can't do the pdf either because it has identifiable info on it.

Anway, could have been a good discussion. Maybe I'll find the spoons for it some other time.

I'm generally pro-British food and find the American superiority to be annoying and pathetic. Hash browns are great and beans on toast are great. But what the fuck is up with cucumber sandwiches. That's a disgrace

Me as a Starship Captain: launch 2 photon torpedoes, lock the tractor beam onto one and aim it to fly a bit past. When they finish evasive maneuvers, line up the ship and activate the tractor beam.

Also me at some point: engineers, it is super silly we dont have probes wirh transporter relays built in. Then when theres orbital interference or a signal being blocked, we just use some probes. How? Fucking tractor beam again, send the probe down far enough to transfer, and then at the barrier point we use the tractor beam to move the probe with the transport signals past whatever is blocking the transfer. If its out of safe tractor range we can just use a chain of probes and tractor out the last one!

Me again, now nicknamed Captain Tractor: "Cargo bay 8 is full and the diplomat needs space for his dumb alien shit? Jettison anything into space that can handle it and we'll use...you guessed it, the motherfuckin' TRACTOR BEAM!

Me being Starfleet's finest proponent of Tractor technology at this point: we can go into that nebula where their sensors cant find us...they'll still have the option of visual contact, let's tractor beam that meteor and kinda hold it bwtween us and their ship and then fly at...meteor speed.
