All fast food seems to have gotten really expensive, but why does that title say it's 3 items when it's clearly 5?
Also banana bread!?!
Yeah there is a discussion to be had about fast food getting to expensive. The pics are kind of misleading though
... paying almost $25 for 3 items
Meanwhile the pic clearly shows the order was for 5 items.
Laura appears to have ordered at a McDonald’s in Australia, given the availability of banana bread on the menu and her reference to the restaurant as “Maccas.”
How do fast food prices in Australia mean that America has failed?
mcdonalds and america are one and the same
the golden arches sing from sea to shining sea
That's also $16USD which seems about right at $3USD/item
“See, we told you this is what would happen if we started paying service workers a living wage!”
Fast food workers were not in fact paid a living wage and most of their jobs were replaced by kiosks
Also, you ever think about how something like a kiosk or its equivalent could’ve been implemented like a decade ago or some shit
I find it funny how people tell the workers that they should partially pay for everyone's slop by working for free, but no one tells landlords to charge less rent to keep consumer prices from going up.
picture has 5 items for $23.45, but the headline says 3 items for $25
EDIT: ok it does say "almost" $25 but I feel like this stock image was lazily chosen
last time i went mfs charged me nearly $400 for 1 item of 83 large fries
And i dont think its american, what american McDonalds sells banana bread?
what a fucking shell game the media plays: "the economy is gangbusters! historic low of unemployment! historic wages! inflation is dead (dont count food or gas)!"
"by tarnation we are shocked! shocked i say! that McDonalds has high prices that are bothering regular people. this is a cottage story that only applies to this one specific restaurant and the social media buzz around it"
If I wanted to spend $25 for three items, I could just grab Chinese and leave a generous tip. I swear, I'd practically block a bullet for my local American-Chinese joint at this point.
Rich people when they realize that if living itself is a status symbol, then with all the poors starved to death, they don't have anyone to rub their wealth in their face anymore
Does the increased price mean that they're using higher quality ingredients? Are the nuggets still pink sludge?
You had to raise your prices so you could have better quality products and pay your e.ployees more right?
😐
Right?
Anyway yea thank God we didn't raise the minimum wage, remember how we couldn't raise the minimum wage because then a meal at McDonald's would cost $15.
This is in Australia, and I can confirm that Maccas is stupidly expensive these days. Most fast food is really pricey and will probably only get worse. People associate it with good times or "being lazy" so they just get it by default without thinking about the price. People probably won't break out of that habit unless they literally can't afford it.
here in the states, every single day, if you have the app, you can buy a big mac and then get a quarter pounder for just another .29. its literally been helping me survive the last few months
I've heard that if you download the app you have to agree to waive your right to join a class action lawsuit against Mcdonalds though. But I'm glad you can get food like that. Maccas used to be my main source of hot food when I was really struggling a few years ago. I hope things turn around for you soon!
oh no, not the class action lawsuit that might get me 40 bucks in 6 years!
there was a point a few years ago where I thought "now all of this is trash, but only Nandos is pointlessly expensive trash"
no need to single out Nandos anymore lmao
I've always felt that about KFC, it's just worse Kingsley's, but twice the price. Yet people love KFC, the drivethrough is always full when I go past one. I don't get it.
bruh I actually want to try kingley's now after learning of it's existence from a canberra mate who filmed some shitpost interviews for his upcoming music "festival"/day gig in one
why does everywhere but melbourne have its own hyperlocal chicken shop chain? Ogalos, El Jannah, Chicken Treat, Kingsley's
It's pretty good, real greasy, so it's not the sort of thing you'd want to eat everyday. I grab it every time I'm in Canberra. Local fast food is always better than massive multi-nationals, it's always cheaper and nicer. I thought it was in all the major cities though lol, but that would explain why I've never seen it in Sydney or Melbourne.
why is the coke that much
Yeah like I know they stopped doing the $1 for all sizes thing a while ago, but that's a huge jump.
Hate to say it, but because will pay that much. Even if they complain about it and use it as evidence of America's downfall, they'll never stop going back for more.
Yeah I’m on an all carb diet
Just get 8 of the $1 dollar McChickens and eat that like a massive insatiable fucking blackhole.
Oh those $1 sandwiches are $2.29 now
It some places but not my Local McDonalds.
Sucks to suck I guess.
Give it a month!
Why the fuck are you buying banana bread at a McDonalds, apple pie or bust!
Well I can still buy 3 value menu burritos clocking in at a whopping 1600 calories for 6 dollars at Taco Bell, so Checkmate socialists.
[slam]
who the fuck is buying banana bread from mickey d
Live by the pig slop, die by the pig slop.
