The only thing this god forsaken country learned from COVID is that you can get away with anything if you never report the numbers agony-deep

I asked grok and it said not to worry about it.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

@grok would Elon do a better job fixing the economy better than Trump?

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 50 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Went to click and this is the first reply I see.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 56 points 4 months ago (1 children)

"UMMMM, when did we become ASIATIC???"

[–] 3rdWorldCommieCat@hexbear.net 40 points 4 months ago

"What are we, a bunch of asians???" when the most anglo thing ever happens, everytime.

least racist liberal

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

in 50 years libs will say Trump was 70% right

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 1 points 4 months ago

(that 70% entirely just being the ending of the US empire)

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 43 points 4 months ago (1 children)

They're planning a surprise party for super duper good results /s

[–] Posadas@hexbear.net 25 points 4 months ago

Oh good, for second there I was worried that they were cooking the books after all the money touching they were doing.

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 40 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry too much about it. Even if the economy isn't doing too well right this very moment the national economy is deeply, deeply invested in AI, so when that really takes off it will all be fine!

[–] neroiscariot@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

The numbers are too great for mortal comprehension. Simply gazing upon them would melt the brain of the common prole. The sages are looking for an economic Metatron to deliver the numbers to the masses in a non-mind blowing way.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 32 points 4 months ago

I had to order groceries today and the price? Yeah, economy cooked.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 29 points 4 months ago

why do you need advanced estimate, just use simple estimate sanae-boomer

it's a sign to buy stonk. everything is a sign to buy stonk

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 21 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

If people were buying stonk it was a sign that the econony was good. If people were not buying stonk it was a sign that foreign interference was tricking them and they were failing the econony, which was good. parenti-hands

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

if people are not buying stonk it's because they're being fearful, and you should be greedy (buy stonk) when others are fearful

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's funny because all of this is true historically speaking. Over the last like 100 years, it has never been a bad time to buy stonk. I think it's understandable that people whose grandparents weren't alive the last time it was a bad idea to buy stonk think that a bad time to buy stonk will never come. Americans have been on easy mode for so long.

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Other than like, Blockbuster.

[–] Kefla@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Well yeah it's always a bad time to buy individual stonks, as long as you don't have the benefit of hindsight. Gotta stay diversified

[–] Fossifoo@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

It's called insider trading, not hindsight trading.

already ahead of you, have a couple of ETFs with $4000~ invested. Next steps is to invest in thousands more.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 24 points 4 months ago (2 children)

don't worry about it! the economy is really good! it's the "hottest" in the world!

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

Sissy Donald Trump of failing America and owner of bad food hotel restaurants has a problem-his government's economy is no longer "hot"

[–] Posadas@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

Economies so hot they have to put a hijab around it to stop others from looking.

For reference, probably the biggest corruption scandal in the USSR. Cotton production was over-reported, and bureaucrats lived luxurious lives while embezzling Soviet state resources. It did not go unpunished, with thousands of arrests in the post-Brezhnev era but those people were freed with the collapse of the USSR.

[–] VILenin@hexbear.net 20 points 4 months ago

Average “victims” of communism

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

with thousands of arrests in the post-Brezhnev era

Andropov W. sicko-wistful

[–] Gosplan14_the_Third@hexbear.net 1 points 4 months ago

Chernenko and Gorbachev didn't stop the criminal investigations, and they started DURING the Brezhnev era.

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

No, you guys don't get it. Trump is doing Degrowth Economics and by collapsing the economy he is effectively preventing worsening climate change.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

They're trying to bury the report on Candles as a proportion of total GDP

[–] poppy_apocalypse@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

Just massage the numbers a bit and we're good to go

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

Cancel Culture strikes again smh

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

think-about-it if you stop all reporting then the economy can't be damaged

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

angry-place We're letting it cook.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 11 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

No, no, no - the report isn't cancelled, the economy is, the report is simply obsolete.

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago
