I sincerely hope he says that line in the movie
Damn, that movie is going to be awful.
Based on these images?
Little known fact: You can determine the quality of an entire movie franchise from untouched principle photography. See how Mr. Zelda sort of looks like if a young Hayden Christensen and Leonardo Dicaprio had a baby? That's all you need to know.
Based on it being a live action movie of a video game, which historically never do very well, and are never written very well, and the fact that the 2 characters in these images are wearing outfits from different generations of games?
I would say it's a good bet the movie won't be great.
Edit: she has also never used a normal bow & arrows in any game, pretty much exclusively summoning a bow made from magic and using enchanted light arrows, or using a rapier instead. Not saying she couldn't use a regular bow and arrows, just that she hasn't.
Also I swear, if there is a Link x Zelda romance plot I'm going to riot - Link taps monster girls only in any instance he isn't ace.
Live action is a mistake.
Yeah, we need studio Ghibli to do it!
Given the rest of the comments in this thread, here's a controversial opinion: Imma reserve my judgement instead of judging a book by its cover.
I find it hard to tell if a movie - especially its plot - is good or bad based on just 3 images.
The only thing about this so far that I dislike is that they didn't find a fully blond guy to play Link. The fake blond look is not a great fit.
They should have dyed it pink.

He really ought to be bare-legged and in a super-short tunic as well
why blond? Links hair can be Brown, Blonde or even Pink.
IMHO his hair should have been Pink or Brown.
His hair is brown in many early incarnations, and went brown-blonde before full blonde. Personally think this colour in the image is peak OoT link hair shade.
I have zero hopes they can pull this off. Links game personality doesn't translate well to film. Nits just gonna be a teenage fantasy romance.
Probably 10-15 years ago I found a project from a bunch of high schoolers called Legend of Link. I always felt like the very self-aware, tongue-in-cheek tone translates really well. But I don't think an official project could pull that off as well.
Does Link have dialogue?
He only repeats one line over and over: "Well ex-cuuuuuuse me, princess!"
That would actually get my butt to the cinema bench. Especially if he "flies" by jumping on bomb blasts with his shield
I'd also accept if he was essentially Beavis ala The Legend of Beavis which is one of the funniest things on YouTube.
I think I’ve seen this. He just says “As you wish.”
The trailer hopefully will show:
- Jack Black as a Goron king wincing saying "ooo right in the dekus!" after Link gets hit in the groin by a slingshot and crosses his eyes before falling backwards
- The Rock as Ganondorf doing the eyebrow raise, and saying, "can you smell what the 'dorf is cooking?"
- James Bautista sneaking into a Gerudu camp wearing a lacy tube top, face covering, and flowing pants
- Link's horse making a suggestive whinny and pushing Link closer to Zelda played by Zendaya
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT
sommmmeBODY ONCE TOLD ME
The Rock as Ganondorf doing the eyebrow raise, and saying, “can you smell what the 'dorf is cooking?”
You say this as a joke, but Dwayne Johnson would be a fantastic Ganondorf.
I didn't know I needed more Jack black after his last few movies (god borderlands was awful)
But this would be hilarious.
It would be bad, but funny.
If they wanted to make a parody movie about Zelda then definitely and I'd watch it and have a good time, but too many movies parody themselves and it's not to my taste.
I like my parodies funny and my action dramas serious. No need to wink at the camera after every lame joke
If you told me this was season 3 of Wheel of Time, I would believe you.
Look like couple cosplaying. Can't wait for the mostly cgi trailer. This didn't need to be made.
angry internet gamer noises
Neither of these people are ethnically elfish. Immersion absolutely ruined. FFS, Mr. Zelda looks downright Norwegian. Not a drop of Hyrulean blood in his veins. I'm boycotting this movie. I'm boycotting it!
The background is going to be out of focus the whole movie, I guarantee it.
As long as it has one of these references:
"Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess!"
"HEY LISTEN"
"Suavamente"
"It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!"
Combat rolls
Bomb jump
Shield spring jump
Chakram Boomerang moment
Sword Throw
we're good
Does Zelda every use a bow in any of the games? I always thought she was more magic-oriented
She uses light arrows against Ganondorf in Wind Waker. I kinda wanna say BotW too but maybe I'm misremembering
Yes, it's part of defeating Gannon in multiple games. Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, maybe Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild if I remember correctly. There are definitely more. I always thought it was a core part of her iconography...
They really cast the best looking actor for Link's role. He really looks like the most recent iteration of the character in the video game.
Those two look perfect for the role. I don’t think I have seen him in anything but I saw her in King and Conqueror and she is great
seems fine, but i still can't believe they didn't partner with Ghibli for this.
There were two leaked videos a couple days ago. Link wears a darker green hooded cloak on top of the outfit seen here, and there's a black horse with a black and red saddle. It looks like Zelda has a tawny horse with a gold and black saddle.
Also Dichen Lachman (Ms. Casey from Severance) is playing Impa, based on the video below.
At least from the costume perspective, I think they did a good job.
Anyone else remember, 17 years ago, when IGN April Fooled a Legend of Zelda live action movie trailer and everyone really, really wanted it to be real?
