No one knows what magnets are but China has all the magnets and they're being very unfair to us with the magnets, okay?

Gonna assume this is the verbatim quote

Edit: it’s actually not far off

Someone with good photo editing skillz should make trump a Juggalo

[–] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No. Juggalos have been firm in opposition to fascism for quite a while. Don't slander them.

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

wtf insane clown pose is based? i think i need to lie down

[–] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 days ago

yeah, in 2017 the Proud Boys were holding a rally in DC the same time the Juggalos were there to protest their designation as a gang.

The Juggalos openly said "we hate racists, we see any Proud Boys and we'll fucking end em".

I used to mock them, now I think they're more trustworthy than half the leftist groups in the US.

It's really funny how he's been on about magnets for this term now

I remember earlier this year when he said they were invented like 20 years ago

I slightly misremembered the exact quote, which was

"You know, China intelligently went and they sort of took a monopoly of the world's magnets, and nobody needed magnets until they convinced everybody 20 years ago, 'Let's all do magnets,'" Trump continued.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago

'Let's all do magnets,'" Trump continued.

I'm dying here. why does this asshole have to be so funny, it makes me hate him more for laughing

"Nobody knows what a magnet is, can ya believe it...they're still trying to figure it out. I know what a magnet is, but I'm not going to tell you."

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago

I talked to a special someone, oh, maybe you know him? Mr. Bill Nye the science guy, that's right, and he told me - and only me, how magnets work and I won't tell you in the media since you treat me so rude, like no one has ever seen before ever quite frankly. trump-anguish

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 27 points 4 days ago

Trump tomorrow holding a press conference to let everyone know that “mommy’s tummy is where the baby grows” but “nobody” is aware how “it got in.” He then clarified, “the baby, it got in there.”

[–] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Trump is gonna join Insane Clown Posse.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago

He don't wanna talk to a scientist. That's why he hired RFK Jr.

What many people ignore about magnetism, is that you can use special relativity to transform any situation involving only a magnetic field into a situation involving only an electric field, simply by changing how you look at it.

Feynman:

We have found that we get the same physical result whether we analyze the motion of a particle moving along a wire in a coordinate system at rest with respect to the wire, or in a system at rest with respect to the particle. In the first instance, the force was purely “magnetic,” in the second, it was purely “electric.”

[–] CarbonConscious@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah that's the thing, he's not entirely wrong here. Not nobody, but most people don't know what magnets really are.

I recall some other Feynman interview, where they asked him to give a layman's explanation as to what magnetic fields really are, and the greatest science explainer of the last century basically said like nah, I literally can't, you actually have to know the math to understand it and I can't explain it in any way that would make sense otherwise.

[–] woodenghost@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago

Yes, exactly. Even if Trump being not totally wrong is a weird coincidence.

[–] mendiCAN@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

im surely just exposing my ignorance, but why is this technicality important? isn't magnetism inherent to electricity anyway? wouldn't they react the same because they are the same? like, electricity runs thru a wire but also creates a field around the wire, the wire doesn't contain electricity so much as direct it, yeah? from its creation by a conductor spinning around a ferrous metal somewhere?

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

I'm a dumb dude so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is part of what proves that they are the same.

They knew for a very long time that the two forces were related, but it wasn't until later that it was proven that they're both aspects of the same Force. They used magnets to induce a current for a very long time, but just because you can create electricity by moving a magnet, that doesn't necessarily prove that they're the same thing.

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

John Magnetism invented them in like the 1990s. Trump should know about them.
