Some people think that it is (i'm not one of those people) but hey, maybe I'm wrong. I was also told a taco and a wrap are sandwiches. I also disagree

Thoughts? Don't turn this into some weird ass struggle session where someone gets banned it's not worth it

I'm gonna hijack this 2013 reddit thread. Get out, grandpa.

It's now a character ideas thread (or a Guy Zoo). Guy with a bus stop fetish: "Yeah this is where I get off"

I didn't post this because of reddit I posted it because I asked someone "if i stick these two unrolled flautas together, is it a sandwich" and i didn't like where their answer went

I have always been of the opinion that a sandwich has its ingredients added as linear planes, whereas a hotdog has its ingredients added in a radial manner about an axis. By this definition, a pizza as it is traditionally imagined has its ingredients added in a circle about its center. Therefore, a pizza is a hot dog.

Is sushi also a hotdog? 🤔🤔🤔

Behold. This is loaded top down and this therefore neither sandwich nor hot dog.

In the field of Food Onomastics, we refer to any food that is just meat and bread in an unconventional formulation as Struggle And Diet cuisine. Because that is just SAD.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But this contains multiple condiments. It has all the ingredients necessary to make it a hot dog.

[–] KnilAdlez@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (3 children)

That looks like the driest piece of meat possible, but taking your word for it, I fully agree it is a hot dog. If dipped in condiments instead, and this may be a hot take, but I would call it a nugget.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

No no, you put the condiments in the bread and then you put in the sausage. The bread contains the condiments. There's usually ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise in it. (Well, not so much mayonnaise as a mayonnaise like dressing specifically for the purpose which is like half mayonnaise, a quarter sauce bernaise and the rest is onions, garlic and "curry" in whatever ratio)

[–] KnilAdlez@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Fascinating. And here I thought I had seen everything. This is scientifically interesting, as this is the missing link between an ice cream cone and the traditional hotdog. Thus, both this and ice cream cones are hot dogs.

I would call it a nugget

I think classifying a pizza as a sandwich is ingredient neutral, but one further step below structural rebel.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

not until you fold the slices

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 week ago

I'm in the 'sandwiches have to be at least two slices of bread' club.

Shoot me. Pun intended

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

downvotes are a sandwich

[–] musicpostingonly@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

According to the USDA, pizza does not meet the definition of sandwich - "at least 35% cooked meat and no more than 50% bread" for closed sandwiches, and "at least 50% cooked meat" for open sandwiches.

According to the British Sandwich Association - any form of bread with a filling, generally assembled cold, meets the definition of sandwich, which pizza is not as it is not cold or filled.

As there are two and only two definitions of sandwich, there you go.

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (3 children)

what the carnivorus fuck are the USDA on how could vegetarian sandwiches not be sandwiches

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

I'm eating pizza right now, it's folded in half and they are playing music in Spanish so it's a taco

[–] lapis@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

depends how you eat it! per the cube rule, pizza is a toast if unfolded, a taco if folded, and a sandwich if two unconnected slices are slapped together face-to-face.
