Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

She's going to do what Hillary was unable to do: lose to Donald Trump a second time.

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago

I think if Trump actually runs for a third term, who he runs against won't matter.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 59 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The Dems are one of the funniest political parties of all time. They perfectly triangulate to a population that has not and will not ever exist, and then wonder why nobody votes for them

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

They're trying to coast on 'anyone but the Republican candidate'

[–] CatoPosting@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You have to wonder if it is intentional, and if so then what the goal is.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

Their goal is to be a giant group of individuals who are all trying to get power because they want power. That's it. That's the entire democrat establishment and every member of it. They don't want to DO anything with that power they just want to have it. All the way from president down to the newest staffer with the smallest amount responsibility, they're all in it for the power. They all agree to use each other to get themselves power and to help each other get power if they think it will help them get power too.

The only real difference between them and the Republicans is that the Republicans actually want to do something with the power. Otherwise they're virtually indistinguishable

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 37 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

When will she be done? When she loses the democratic primary? Lmfao

The only reason she was the candidate in the first place was because the Dems skipped the primary.

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

She is now seen as anointed by the Dem party, so in my view she is instantly one of the top contenders to win the primary. This is how cucked the Dem primary electorate is. Policies, morals, electability and effectiveness don't matter. What matters is who the Dem elites and the liberal media pick. In 2020, Biden won an easy majority of the Dem voters who support Medicare For All! And it is not like liberals already have good morals and policies, but it looks like what they believe doesn't even matter.

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

She'll definitely be a contender if she runs but I don't think she'd win. Although it doesn't mean the Dem electorate isn't totally cucked. They'd rather be cucks for a Newsom imho

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Newsom is another Dem-approved candidate. We might have a repeat of 2008! Two Dem-approved candidates arguing over tiny political differences.

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yup. Just how the DNC likes it. Democracy in action

[–] LangleyDominos@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They're not going to do primaries. They will claim the election is too important and there isn't enough time. And she'll never be done because being a perpetual candidate is a career now.

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago

I also think they could do that. Only way I see her being the presidential candidate again.

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 37 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Kamala out here proving that "I wouldn't do anything different" from Biden includes letting an ego driven desire to run torpedo the election against a fascist

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 27 points 2 weeks ago

Kamala, in trying to prove she's more gung-ho than Trump, cancels the non-ceasefire ceasefire in Gaza, despite almost her entire voterbase telling her it's not what they want

She goes on to maintain the ICE kidnappings but forces the inferior gestapo to do so unmasked

Libs cheer and go to brunch

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry, but we're speaking now and we say you're done

[–] stephen@lazysoci.al 32 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Hillary Clinton 2.0. Undesirable candidate supported by a party that’ll backstab candidates more desirable to those that’ll vote Democrat.

Find out what Lee Carter who ran for governor of Virginia a few years ago - I’d camp out the night before at the polling station to vote for that guy.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I hated Hillary (i still do) because it's just a non stop deluge of "she can't keep getting away with this" and then she does, but like fuck, at least she was kind of competent? This isn't an endorsement of Hillary since that competency is used for evil but like I mean Kamala just seems like a worse Hillary in every way. Somehow more stupid, somehow less charismatic, etc. It's wild that this is the best the neoliberal Democrats can do

It's like Hillary was raised in a vat designed to be a shithead politician but Kamala just like grew up watching that on TV and went "i could do that!"

[–] LadyCajAsca@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago

oh god lee carter (socialist, DSA) lost to a fucking bill and hillary clinton associate ugh: some terry guy

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 31 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

are we in the plane of eternal suffering?

[–] tocopherol@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

Don't worry, it's only a temporary plane of existence like all others, some thousands of years tops

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

contextphobic "It's not fair! Everyone is judging my past performances when I was tethered to Joe Biden's terrible policies. If I run again I can play to my core competency and run as hard right as I want to!"

"We got an endorsment from Tucker Carlson, Netanyahu and the leader of the DeMag (Democratic White Men Against Immigration)

[–] moss_icon@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago

The Democrats must have a humiliation kink.

[–] dragongloss@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can't wait for liberals to shame us all again for not voting for top-cop

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

While she vows to bomb Venezuela into rubble

[–] dragongloss@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, but it will be in a girlboss woke way. agony-deep

[–] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I am sorry, but she just isn't old and decrepit enough to win an election. Apart form all her other problems.

[–] CommunistCuddlefish@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Critical support to Kamala Harris for helping the Democratic Party destroy itself

[–] miz@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

stick a fork in her (metaphorically)

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

I've had the controversial hot take for a minute now, that all presidential nomiees who lose should be taken out back and shot. Like, make it a real life or death contest for everyone involved.

[–] CommunistCuddlefish@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

I think this is hilarious and I support it but it's not going to make the political process better, just because a lot of people running for president are war criminals and this is the only way they're ever going to see justice.

Even better, if one kills the other before the election they get the office. They are all killed regardless after a 2 year term.

lathe-of-heaven

Here is the outline of a novel I was thinking about publishing in the next 6 months:

Trump successfully makes the case that he can run for a third term.

Kamala gets no more than 1.6% of the vote in any Democratic primary.

The Dems nominate Obama and make Kamala his vice presidential candidate (because of course they would).

Obama easily defeats Trump.

The CIA abandons a plot in the DFW area, but ultimately succeeds in assassinating Obama in Chicago using the same scripts from 1963 and officially anointing Obama as the new JFK.

Kamala is made and we all eat crow.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump successfully makes the case that he can run for a third term.

I expect this actually. Run Trump as Vice President to a sycophant President, and said sycophant either resigns or simply does what Trump wants. It technically doesn't violate the 22nd amendment, and with SCOTUS they can declare it constitutional if push comes to shove like in 2000.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Run Trump as Vice President to

Kamala; She goes on to supposedly clean up his character and libs eat up the reformation angle, and Republicans will be grudgingly sated as they still see a reactionary influence on the office (entirely ignoring that Kamala had been working to get their approval this entire time); libs will now be content with this new whitewashed doofus

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

This is so incredibly cursed it's now guaranteed to be the new timeline :scared:

It is the unholy "Bipartisan" union Democrats have always wanted! What have you unleashed upon us?!

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 weeks ago

Naw you are

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

First she's have to actually win at least one primary. Can't become the nominee by succession when you're not the incumbent.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

I really wish she were

[–] gayspacemarxist@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Why is the election all reruns now?

[–] Homme_Tanks@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

unsettling maniacal laughter

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

"I am not done"

[–] LadyCajAsca@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

it will go as long as the democratic party exists, which probably means 5 years from now, trump will like ban it lol idk, who cares it's not like they're that different.
