DEI in japan would probably include white people too I guess but that wouldn't be a problem for them.
Trying to convince chuds that it was DEI when they let James Turner design the cringe woke Vanillite line (it's just ice cream, we hate object design pokemon now for some reason)
The largest racial minority in Japan is US troops (idk if that's true but I read it somewhere and it sounds provocative and interesting so I repeat it a lot) so really the DEI is every time an anime character is white or American.

Honestly the Pokedex does need a thorough purge. Get rid of all of the fap bait, the "humans in a costume", and the gimmickmon (that includes all mega evolutions).
I blame the decline of Digimon, which lead to the Digimonfication of Pokemon design.

Maybe I was being a bit harsh yesterday, but Gardevoir still gives "person in a costume" energy to me.
Like, compare to Bellossom.
Bellossom also gives "person in a costume" energy, but the plantlike elements are much stronger and the humanlike elements are much weaker, so this one would get a pass in my Pokedex.
I don't think the humanoids are so bad, just overrepresented and maybe a little too human (contrast Mewtwo)
And the gimmicks are fun 
I'm a gen oner and I say that every Pokemon should be based on an animal or object!

Dragonite should mega evolve into a straight white man. A normal, relatable, straight white divorced man who likes to knock a couple of beers back every now and then which is perfectly normal and no reason for that b***h Evelyn to take his Mega Dragonite kids.
Pokemon designs have never been good 
Even the originals were just semi-random animals and objects turned into "monsters" and they looked weird. They got anime-fied to be cuter later. And they have only gotten increasingly more abstract and dumb. New switch pokemon had ones that turned into motorcycles.
Only Bulbasaur is free of my wrath.
While I know where you're coming from clearly the designs are actually really good in context (of being for children).
The lizard motorcycles are one of the good ones though. Except for the one that looks like a motorcycle but runs on its feet anyway, that's dumb as hell.

The real DEI was when they let some woke artist design dragonite after stealing it right out of the hands of based Atsuko Nishida (who designed dratini and dragonair)

I remember being 12 years old, lying down in bed during a midsummer afternoon staring into space after having just woken up. Sunlight entered my room but the shadow of the dresser draped over a contrastingly dark area.
I thought I saw a dog in that dark pit. I swear it was staring back at me. I stared at it for a long time, afraid to get up. What if this was part of a robbery, and the dog’s here to make sure I don’t do any funny business? What if it attacks if I get up?
I know I was hallucinating as a dumb teenager, but this was a formative experience for me, and it’s the reason why I’m a staunch advocate against DEI. I hate minorities.

For real why the fuck gamefreak decided to drop mega evolutions after gen 6 literally the most marketable and exciting "gimmick" and they drop it for ten billion other gimmicks?
Doesnt even make sense from a souless money company perspective reallt.
But what if instead of having this cool new design they can turn into, they just got big? Or had scary red eyes?
Because by rotating the cool new thing every game, they can make it feel "fresh" and special when it comes back.

Can we talk about all future paradox pokemon being dumb robots and how this optimism shows an ideological shift compared to gen 1 whose over 30 poison types signified a cynicism towards modernity that is now gone.
I know it is a joke post but the ridiculous amount of poison types in gen 1 has nothing to do with cynism.
