I don't think the humanoids are so bad, just overrepresented and maybe a little too human (contrast Mewtwo)

And the gimmicks are fun angery

maddened

I'm a gen oner and I say that every Pokemon should be based on an animal or object!pay no attention to polywhirl, abra, machop, hitmonlee, hitmonchan, mr mime, jynx, or mewtwo

When you said "gimmick", I honestly assumed you were thinking of something like Klefki, which is basically an object with a fae tie-in, putting it somewhat ahead of Magnemite's concept (I like both, to be clear). What did you have in mind by gimmick? Like Porygon or Ditto? (two of my favorites)

As an aside, I'd probably make another carve-out for Yokai and Yokai-like creatures, which would be good for Jynx except that her design is kind of lame for other reasons.

Sprigatito becoming a humanoid cat is top 10 worst gamefreak decision

I honestly like the final stage's design (mostly the mask), but I do definitely agree that there's a massive over-representation of humanoids in starter lines generally
