LOL, Says the guy mooching off all of us for free healthcare and a paycheck.

[–] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

When I was unemployed and playing video games while waiting for replies, I didn't qualify for any free healthcare and I needed some

I don't know what he's talking about

[–] ours@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

Right-wing 101: "we need to destroy social safety net X because the immigrants/criminals/lazy/fraudsters are smooching it from hard-working, honest citizens!"

Translation: we need to take services away from the working class so gazillionaires can have an extra tax break and buy a bigger yacht to put their current yacht on.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I'd love to play some video games, anyone know where I can find some of this free healthcare?

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 5 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (2 children)

State Medicaid. Just make sure you keep your wage under the limits.

Don't do this... But that's what he means.

Sell drugs or have a hustle on the side and get more money. /S

It's the same game from the street to the big businesses. Big businesses and rich people just make charities and get offshore bank accounts to rape our economy.

[–] Buske@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

It's much worse than that, They have the entire US stock market rigged to so the same.

[–] MyNamesTotallyRobert@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Looking forward to the federal thc hemp ban. Then I can grow weed for huge profit margins, quit my real job, and actually sit around and play video games without giving anything back to society all day like he's accusing us all of doing. Wish they'd make alcohol illegal too. We have enough dipshits in congress for this to happen after they do all this horrible stuff and then get angry when non of it accomplishes what they think it will accomplish. Moonshine is even easier to mass produce than weed and like 4000% easier to get away with.

[–] DeathToTheIDF@lemmings.world 4 points 5 hours ago

I'm not even playing videogame lmao

[–] CPMSP@midwest.social 1 points 4 hours ago

As a father of two young men... Good!

Healthcare is a right. Especially in the richest nation in the history of humanity.

[–] piyuv@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

There was a billionaire, CEO to multiple companies, arguing that he’s one of the best in one of the most grindiest games…

[–] Donkter@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Yeah! We gotta give people the choice to work or die due to lack of medical care! That's never been done before! What's that called?

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

It’s mooching off healthcare in the us, it’s a basic need for other countries.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Just pop some health potions

[–] Surp@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

I mean I do know a lot of people with no real jobs that game all day and they have some sorta shitty health care that doesn't really get them proper treatment if that counts

[–] Coskii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 12 hours ago

Ah yes, young men. That notoriously healthcare obsesses group of individuals that do all they can to drain the system of all its funding. That's the problem.

It's a shame people actually fall for blatant lies like this.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

Magats shit on women... Still get women votes... Shit in soliders still get soldiers votes... Shit on Mexicans.... Still get Mexican votes... Shit on men...still get men votes...

I don't know who this says more about... The voting group or Democrats that can't win despite this shit.

[–] imTIREDnhungryboss@lemmy.ml 0 points 6 hours ago

I've had it with these fucks I see him I'll kill him

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 17 hours ago

Ah, yes, because I don't need money for rent and food, just healthcare.

What a moron.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago

Someone so disconnected with reality should not represent anyone.

[–] Pulsar@lemmy.world 17 points 19 hours ago

Healthcare is just a way to coerce the working class to produce value for the wealthy. That is the real reason why there is no universal healthcare in America.

[–] mintiefresh@piefed.ca 44 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

But where's the free healthcare?

[–] nostalgicgamerz@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

He's probably (attempting) to reference welfare .... essentially trying to justify work requirements for it

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 28 points 23 hours ago

I'm disabled and can't afford a working computer to play video games, you rich motherfucker.

[–] RubberElectrons@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

They'll just keep turning the screws tighter if you let them.

Don't listen to their lies.

[–] Zomg@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

I make time to do both 🤫

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 22 hours ago (1 children)
[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 19 hours ago

This guy unfortunately and unironically exists and likely has more power than anybody on the fediverse.

[–] gerowen@lemmy.world 20 points 22 hours ago

We have free health care? Coulda fooled me.

[–] jhoff90@lemmy.world 14 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

He seems to know a lot about "young boys."

[–] Tillman@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

He talked about monitoring his sons porn viewing history I think.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago

Anybody who has ever been unfortunate enough to have to apply for any of these healthcare or food stipend programs would know that it's not as easy as the government makes it seem. In fact, the amount of bureaucracy, means testing, and highly restrictive income limitations means that most people don't qualify period and people who do qualify have to spend an inordinate amount of time waiting to hear back from the government to know if they have been accepted or not, all the while hoping and praying they don't get sick and can manage their money long enough to continue feeding themselves.

Case in point, my fiance is out of work right now and actively seeking work. She applied for both MediCAL and SNAP and was denied for MediCAL because she had earned too much already that year to qualify and the SNAP benefits totaled out to $20/month in food stamps, based on historical income, which is insufficient even for the most frugal of individuals to make work. This is for someone currently earning $0/month and being almost entirely supported by me.

After a certain point, it becomes a massive drain on your time and resources that could be spent looking for a job, so you stop bothering with the system altogether because who wants to spend hours doing paperwork and submitting claims just to get enough spare change to buy a bulk bag of rice to feed yourself a struggle meal?

I don't want to hear shit about "handouts" from anybody. My fiance paid her taxes faithfully for years without ever having to rely on the program, so where are her benefits? She has undoubtedly paid more into the system than she will ever extract.

[–] CatDogL0ver@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Rich people always think they pay for everyone. Wrong.

We are in the same society. A society with no hope is not a stable society.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not concerned about some young videogamer getting free healthcare. I'm more concerned with the DOGE GOBLIN getting BILLIONS in government contracts to build rockets that blow up spectacularly, wasting a billion dollars with every explosion, just so he can quip "Just a scratch."

That's a billion dollar scratch that could have made a huge difference in thousands of lives.

I'm not worried about American citizens getting health care, I'm worried about Foreign Sociopathic Oligarchs getting BILLIONS in government contracts, paid for by taxes on the working class, while calling those same workers/taxpayers "parasites."

I don't accept the premise that working a job to make someone else rich is axiomatically good.

Many jobs make the world worse. I'd rather someone sit at home and play Tetris than build murder-drones, or work on some sort of AI powered stalking-ad company.

Many of the jobs are just bullshit. Another "AI" company? Another product manager with no real decision making power? A few billion dollars poured into "the metaverse"? Waste of time and resources.

That aside, most jobs make the owners rich while labor gets a few crumbs. You work all day making widgets. The boss pays you $10. They sell your widgets for $1000. That's a bum deal. But there's a thousand desperate people waiting to take your spot, plus union busters eager to betray labor and beat you up. Pay people the real value of their labor, and treat them with respect, and you'd likely get more people working.

Johnson is a heretical, hypocritical, piece of shit. No one should take him seriously. His church should -- wait, he's southern baptist? The "we're going to split off because we want slavery" sect? Not surprising. Those assholes suck.

[–] gabbath@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

This. The whole framing needs to be pushed back against.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Says the asshole mooching off the gold standard free healthcare given to congressmen.

[–] gabbath@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

And what was his "merit" again (since that's how they like to frame it)? Oh right, fooling people into voting for him. Just PR and courting big shots for campaign money.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 day ago

I can't wait to pay for groceries with my free healthcare.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world 17 points 1 day ago

The same old "welfare queen" argument again.

[–] ThatGirlKylie@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This is just the “violent video games make people violent” argument from the 90s and 00s. Fear mongering at its core.

The argument is utterly stupid.

Ignoring that it is building on a fantasy reality for the moment. Even if you had free healthcare, and if only the financial costs of survival motivated people to get jobs, then the other costs of living, like for food and shelter, would still provide that motivation.

I only play computer games after I get home from working hard all day.

[–] y0kai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 55 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lmfao what free healthcare?

The problem is that voters are so damn stupid that someone can make a statement like this without being interrogated.

First they came for the gamers, and I did not speak out, because I was busy hitting a sick 360° quickscope on Angel City.

[–] mcange@feddit.org 51 points 1 day ago

Free healthcare?

[–] theotherbelow@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Its a lot more rewarding than choking on a small carrot.

working where exactly? working on a farm that will pay you minimum wage, if that? oh OH I know working in the tech sector where it's now and has been for the past couple years an absolute nightmare to find a job in.

There are NO jobs out there that will pay for the current cost of living and the ones that COULD aren't hiring, and if anything, are laying people off. And yeah, these unemployed young men are TOTALLY playing videogames that now cost $80 a pop paid via a job they don't have.
