well lets see you had at least 20mil that just didn't bother voting, you had another nearly 10mil that voted for trump because they're idiots who are easily convinced that some how trump would back Palestine and then you had an overal campaign that was more focused on turning red to blue as opposed to motivating it's lazy and complacent base to simply turn up and vote....

but sure, lets blame the trans people.

My dad can write DOS commands better than most people my age can and I work in Tech. beyond that? he's clueless. Younger generations can either type with their thumbs or their index fingers and know absolutely nothing about how things work. If it's an app they can open on their phones or tablet devices then perfect, they're all over it. Beyond that? no way.

People my age and from my generation can type well, can figure things out and fix issues on computers, and know our way around tech. Why? cause we were raised in an age where things were essentially "kicking off". I was taught typing in high school. Beyond that most of us used AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, mIRC, etc so if we weren't taught it in high school we learned it that way.

We learned html, php, javascript, etc via Geocities, setting up PHP messageboards, hell even just customizing our Myspace page. younger generations don't have anything like that so they don't know it. We learned it in our free time to customize our online experience. We had daily consistent shows like The ScreenSavers or Call for Help to teach us how to use Windows or even introduce us to Linux. I learned to build my first PC thanks to Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton. countless magazines and books to pick up to read how to do stuff. And in those days if you wanted to game on PC you pretty much had to build your own PC. No one made prebuilt custom gaming pcs. So you had to learn that stuff.

Today things are all prebuilt for you. gaming pcs, phones and tablet apps, etc. People today just want things to "just work" and if there's anything needed beyond opening an app and logining in then they're not interested. Finding and signing up for instances? forget it.

Honestly Valve needs to have a policy for this. If a game that once worked on Steamdeck and now no longer works after publisher intervention then refunds need to be issued. I have BF2042, BFV and BF1 and 1 was the LAST one I could still play on Linux. Now I have 3 digital paperweights that I can't play anymore. I want my money back.

I remember renting Phalanx just because of the box. like "why's this old man playing the banjo?" then you look at the back and it's a friggin space shooter. I had to rent it.

The funny thing about apple is just how far they've moved away from Jobs' "vision".

It was clearly evident when they released the Apple Pencil. Jobs hated Stylus'. one of the reasons he killed the newton, and a reason why the iphone/ipad never originally had one as he was quoted as saying "why would I need a stylus? I have 5 of them on my hand"

I mean Apple is like a cult that worship a dead god who would burn current Apple to the ground and start over if he came back.

it's total bullshit. For example if you use ublock origin every now and again sure you might get ads that pop up, but AT MOST that lasts for a day, generally it'll last a couple hours as the team at ublock update their lists to block ads again. There's no need, literally zero need, to remove it from your extensions. and at worst, like I got yesterday, you'll just see a black screen that buffers for a bit before the video plays. the ad is still blocked.

you can also circumvent most of this if you use freetube. OR if you just want music the youtube-dl script on linux. I also ditched spotify for youtube-dl as I can also download entire playlists with it.

This was already debunked awhile ago. it's bullshit. no restaurant, regardless of how poorly they're doing, is going to go through all this work to maybe, just mabye, get $50 out of them.

This is just like "what not to do in IT/dev/tech 101" right here. Every since I've been in the industry for literally decades at this point I was always told, even when in school, "Never test in production, never roll anything out to production on a Friday, if you're unsure have someone senior code review" of which, Crowdstrike, failed to do all of the above. Even the most junior of junior devs should know better. So the fact that this update was allowed go through...I mean blame the juniors, the seniors, the PM's, the CTO's, everyone. If your shit is so critical that a couple bad lines of poorly written code (which apparently is what it was) can cripple the majority of the world....yeah crowdstrike is done.

I work with the homeless. the main misconception is that they're all either addicts or mentally ill. This is far, far, from true. The ones you see daily, chances are they are addicts or mentally ill but the "hidden" homeless vastly out weighs the ones you see on the streets.

Most have jobs or are actively looking for work. A lot are escaping domestic abuse or are LGBTQ+ and escaping hostile home environments. There are A LOT of families and elderly people who simply can't afford to keep a roof over their heads.

think you Americans are beyond a peaceful protest at this point, right now you need a revolution. you are quite literally 4 months away from a potential dictatorship.
