Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

tromp

"My intelligence community is wrong"

Trump dismisses the assessment of his own intelligence community regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities, insisting that they are mistaken.

When confronted by a reporter who cites Tulsi Gabbard, his Director of National Intelligence, Trump simply states, "She's wrong."

Rumsfield on Iraqi nuclear weapons and intelligence.

One thing to keep in mind is if something is intelligence, then it is not a fact. A fact is a fact. If something is intelligence that means there is judgement involved.

He believes Israel over his own intelligence lol. Or he just wants an excuse to go to war, hard to tell.

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He's well aware that US intelligence is correct, and that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. I made a comment earlier pointing out that the ghouls in charge feel a sense of urgency because of the new China-Iran rail corridor that was recently put into operation during the negotiations with Iran. It most likely pushed them to abandon these negotiations, and to give Israel the green light for the attack. They've been very open about the fact that it's not just about regime change, but also hurting China. Unfortunately for them, they miscalculated because they thought it would lead to an immediate collapse of Iran.

Iran has Juche Necromancy technology

Admiral Ali Shamkhani confirms survival after Israeli strike - Pakistan Minute Mirror

Earlier reports had falsely announced his death, but Press TV and several Iranian outlets have confirmed his current stable condition

PressTV -

"I am alive and ready for sacrifice"

Message from Admiral Shamkhani to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the people of Iran: I am alive and ready for sacrifice

Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the political advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who was severely injured during a terrorist attack by the Israeli regime on his home in the early hours of June 13, has stabilized medically.

In a message addressed to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the people of Iran, he emphasized: The bright day of victory is near. The name of Iran will shine throughout history as it always has, and the smiles.

Video of an early release submunition (ERS) from an Iranian ballistic missile tumbling through the skies in Israel.

Video

This the problem with releasing submunitions at such high relative altitudes (7-8km according to current reports), not only is the spread radius multiple kilometres for only 15-30 submunitions, the aerodynamics is a huge issue. They simply aren't heavy enough and lack the inertia, definitely slow enough to be hit by Iron Dome.

[–] LoveYourself@hexbear.net 27 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

The smaller blue submunitions are for distracting air defenses. (Edit: This Tasnim article implies they are basically just flares for confusing Infrared detection systems). I doubt they survive re-entry, probably just get very hot and explode in the atmosphere from the friction.

Once ISW starts loading again I'll find the link about them I forgot which missile this was showing off.

The video looks like one of the larger red ones. Probably malfunctioned when it split off.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 26 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Yeah it's definitely the larger ones. I don't think the smaller ones are currently being used, that would be for a low altitude release, like the submunitions on Iskander or ATACMS missiles. Think this is being done to mess with David's Sling and Iron Dome, to try force more interceptors to be launched. Also these submunition warheads only started being used after the Israeli attack on the inactive Arak heavy water nuclear reactor, so I'm guessing it's linked to that in terms of escalation or retaliation.

[–] LoveYourself@hexbear.net 28 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Makes sense.

The IRGC is holding a lot more cards for the escalation ladder. I'm sure all sorts of interesting inventions will make their debut soon enough.

AMEN!!!

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 32 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

If Iron Dome interceptors are limited (as far as I know, this is the munition they have the most of, compared to the higher altitude interceptors), forcing them to shoot down 15-30 submunitions for one missile launch still has some potential strategic use. I imagine it at least forces a calculation of whether they will use a handful of high altitude interceptors to intercept before separation vs. several dozen Iron Dome interceptors to target the submunitions. This assumes Israel can reliably detect whether an incoming missile is carrying a conventional warhead or one of these ERS warheads, which isn't clear. If the missiles delivering these warheads have similar flight profiles, Israel might be forced to treat any incoming missile like it is potentially carrying one of these ERS systems.

[–] Gucci_Minh@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago

Agreed, in effect they are serving the purpose of penetration aids like flares and chaff, albeit more expensive. The reasoning from Iran is likely that if it goes through, great, and if not then at least it wasted another few dozen israeli wunderwaffen.

John “I used to live in Russia so I know a lot about Russia” Helmer came in with the hot sauce yesterday lol:

CW: an inappropriate word insinuating SA censored

“So what you see is obvious,” says a well-informed Moscow source. “This is not a Sino-Russian alignment but a US-Russian alignment with the Chinese claiming to join the troika. The message to Trump is very clear — we [Putin] want to make deal; we want sanctions lifted; we want our airline flights and Boeings back; we are ready for compromises. Look what we have done! We have been good boys, haven’t we, in Syria? We have made no new troubles in Libya. We have not made trouble in Venezuela. We are only focused on fighting in our front yard. We accept that you [Trump] are the hegemon. We’ll complain about it, but we won’t fight to make you weaker. Your strength, dear Uncle Sam, is our economic survival. It’s fine that you r**e a few small boys every once in a while, but we are still being good boys, aren’t we? This is the reality. And the main media are saying this now — Beijing has abandoned Teheran. Moscow has abandoned Teheran. I add that Teheran has abandoned Iran with too little and too late, so what’s left to fight? For us, it’s Ukraine.”

lmao. I usually take Helmer with a grain of salt but if this is true I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

[–] MLRL_Commie@hexbear.net 28 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

This is some anti-materialist bullshit. This is how one can interpret a few small parts of much larger movements, but is not at all how reality looks. Crucify me of this aligns with reality in 3 months but I don't believe this for an instant

Still in awe of how shit UK military security is. Palestine Action broke into the RAF base that underpins Britain’s global air power projection, minced around on e-scooters, disabled multiple strategic assets, and left without being caught. This, while the UK is potentially days from joining a regional war in the Middle East and still deep in a proxy war with Russia. Given this, the Heathrow power incident, airport drones, etc,. there seems to be a very real window for adversaries to exploit and cause significant disruption inside the UK - largely unopposed.
