Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.

"Axios": Trump wants to ensure that the attack on Iran is "necessary" and that it will not lead to the United States being drawn into a prolonged war in the region

“Concepts of a plan” encore

“I have ideas as to what to do,” Mr. Trump said during an Oval Office event. He added, “I like to make a final decision one second before it’s due, you know, because things change.”

https://archive.ph/U1xw0

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 16 points 35 minutes ago

It's like he's a standup comedian doing a routine pretending to be the president.

"Okay, so I'm the president... Don't laugh. I'm serious here. I'm in the Oval. The media is there. They all wanna know - will decide that the US goes to war? I tell the media 'I have ideas as to what to do,' 'cause I do have ideas. War? Maybe? I could go to in that direction. Or maybe not. Bad? Very, very bad? I got ideas. I got lots of ideas. Anybody can have ideas."

"And maybe I say 'Final decision? Americans like entertainment and tv. The big reveal is very, very important and things change. So, look, I'll make the final final decision - like - one second before I have to..."

Iranian air defenses report that they shot down a fifth Zionist F-35:

An Israeli F-35 fighter jet has been downed near the city of Varamin, about 35 kilometers in southeast of Tehran, the Varamin governor announced on Wednesday morning.

https://en.mehrnews.com/news/233287/Iran-downs-Israeli-F-35-fighter-jet-near-Tehran

[–] XiaCobolt@hexbear.net 33 points 48 minutes ago* (last edited 38 minutes ago)

Israel told me Iran keeps shooting down their F-35s so I asked how many F-35 they have and they said they just goes to the USA and get a new F-35 afterwards so I said it sounds like they're just feeding F-35s to Iran and then their daughter started crying.

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 41 points 1 hour ago (3 children)

Did we ever actually get visual confirmation on any of these?

[–] xiaohongshu@hexbear.net 24 points 48 minutes ago (1 children)
[–] SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net 7 points 32 minutes ago* (last edited 31 minutes ago)

I thought this until I was like 12, at which point I realized how stupid it would be because planes aren't detected by people looking for them with binoculars

Not yet. But I do not see a good reason to doubt the reports. For instance, in 1999, Yugoslavian air defenses shot down a stealth F-117 with a, then, nearly 40 year old air defense system.

[–] jack@hexbear.net 33 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

I really hope this is true so that the US suffers when they attack

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 29 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I really hope to see the Americans sense of invincibility shattered if(when?) they attack Iran. I want to see their "stealth" aircraft being shot down, I want to see marines floundering on the beaches being lit up by drones, and most of all inshallah-script I want to see an American carrier sink to the bottom of the sea

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 8 points 33 minutes ago (1 children)

We'll get the last one for sure but it's going to be a controlled detonation / false flag op on the Nimitz.

Then Trump will try and erase Juneteenth by calling it "Patriot Heroes of the Sunken Nimitz Day" or something.

IRGC Statement:

"To the residents of the occupied lands in Al-Quds:

The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on the brave Iranian people, have dismantled the air defense systems of the Zionist army in several past operations, and today, the skies of the occupied territories have opened their arms to Iranian missiles and drones.

The missile strikes will be precise and continuous. As you saw yesterday, Mossad and “Aman” (military intelligence) headquarters, as well as air force bases of the Zionist army, were targeted across various parts of the occupied territories.

The Commander of the IRGC had warned: "The gates of hell will be opened upon you."

The missiles of the Aerospace Force will not allow you a single moment outside your underground shelters and it has now been days since you’ve seen sunlight.

Be certain: the sirens will not fall silent for even a moment. You must choose between a slow death in a hellish life within the shelters, or a swift escape from the lands your forefathers stole; perhaps you’ll find life beyond the hell that is coming."

this feels like a bit of an exaggeration but the vibes are very much there at least

It would be good if they started attacking Gaza territory held by Israelis and the Al Quds could advance

[–] SeventyTwoTrillion@hexbear.net 9 points 39 minutes ago

probably not accurate enough to be 100% sure that they won't hit Palestinians, and Israel would, for the first time in history, pretend to care that a Palestinian person has died so as to generate propaganda against Iran

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 6 points 38 minutes ago* (last edited 36 minutes ago) (1 children)

If only. Sadly I dont think they have missiles capable of the kind of accuracy to be used as any kind of reliable air support.

If they start causing attrition to the warplanes and somehow force Israel into redeploying more forces beyond Gaza there's a chance the attrition rate if IOF thugs can increase too.

Here's a thought

Wouldn't it be kind of an economic "nuke" to close the strait of Hormuz and bomb every major oil facility in the comprador states in the middle east? The oil price would skyrocket which would be political death sentence to many Western politicians

[probably not a very original thought]

[–] Firefly7@hexbear.net 28 points 56 minutes ago (1 children)

Iran could do both parts of this, and has in the past stated a willingness to close Hormuz and to make comprador states pay. It’s probably the biggest card it could play. If it does go through with it then basically every country will be at least a bit upset with it, but it’s certainly not out of the question if the US enters the war.

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 18 points 52 minutes ago* (last edited 52 minutes ago)

If Iran does it, they better hope it works, because that is basically the last card they have to play. They are wise to keep that in their back pocket as long as they can.

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 24 points 56 minutes ago* (last edited 55 minutes ago)

this is irans exact plans btw. In 2019 they (or the Houthis depending on who you believe) bombed a single oil processing facility in Saudi Arabia with a few cruise missiles and drones, which took out five percent of the world's oil production instantly. Half of Saudi arabia's output was gone in a few hours.

The thousands of Shaheds are not for Israel.

[–] RobnHood@hexbear.net 15 points 52 minutes ago (1 children)

As far as I know, Iran has treated that as their deterrent against zionazi aggression, but that has simply not shown itself to be true as clearly it has not prevented the aggression from the genocidal death cult.

[–] Kieselguhr@hexbear.net 8 points 28 minutes ago

What is astounding is that (if we put Israel to the side for a bit), and consider other Western states, like the EU... well even they don't seem to respect the fact that Iran could fuck up European economy for several years in a single night of bombing

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 10 points 26 minutes ago (2 children)

If they do, it'll be the biggest action any country has taken to combat climate change in history

Does anybody have info with at least a few salient details on this vagueness?

The Guardian

The US military has moved some aircraft and ships from bases in the Middle East that may be vulnerable to any potential Iranian attack, two US officials have told Reuters. The officials, who were speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the move was a part of planning to protect US forces. They declined to say how many aircraft or ships had been moved and where they would be going.

One of the officials said US naval vessels had been moved from a port in Bahrain, where the military’s 5th fleet is located, while aircraft that were not in hardened shelters had been moved from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. “It is not an uncommon practice. Force protection is the priority,” the official said. Iran has said to Washington that it will respond firmly to the United States if it becomes directly involved in Israel’s military campaign, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva said on Wednesday.
