Those brooms have swept many a mile of dick.

[–] AFC1886VCC@reddthat.com 124 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They're just good friends. The room was cold and they had to share. They were just kidding around. Their girlfriends took the picture. It's not sexual.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 92 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Okay, can we just sit back and recognize the beauty in that?

Like, if you're into guys, that's a god damn beefcake buffet right there. Freddie was pulling some damn fine tail

[–] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I mean, he was Freddie fucking Mercury after all. That is like saying Keith Richards has slept with a few groupies and took some drugs

I love that every single one of them had a mustache. Freddy had a type!

[–] rowrowrowyourboat@sh.itjust.works 79 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 19 points 2 weeks ago

Not a bad type to pick tho

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

Everyone had a mustache in the 70's and part of the 80's. Also, most gay men had them at this time as well. He would have to have REALLY looked for no stach men.

And there were people surprised to find out he was gay.

[–] Whateley@lemm.ee 64 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Freddy was bi. He wrote "Love of my Life" about Mary Austin.

[–] jagermo@feddit.org 69 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I think its more complicated. I think he truly loved Mary - but not in a sexual way, more as a confidante and partner.

She told him that he is gay, not bisexual.

It wasn't until 1976 that Freddie told his fiancé he thought he was bisexual. Mary later said: “I’ll never forget that moment. I remember saying to him, ‘No Freddie, I don’t think you are bisexual. I think you are gay’.”

I don't even understand how anyone makes it out of the closet... getting past youfself to be honest with yourself is very hard.

He loved riding his bike. I've never done it, though. I think I've always been bike curious.

I didn't know until his boyfriend told me.

[–] DemBoSain@midwest.social 53 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

TIL I can't tell the difference between a dozen Freddie Mercurys and a dozen Tom Sellecks.

I love the "Sappho and her friend" vibes from the title of this.

Also, Freddie RIP King -- Queen 🫡!

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

Unlike Michael Jackson, who has unfortunately been questionable in character, Freddie has consistently been a good person to my knowledge. He deserves to be a legend along with others.

[–] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm as gay as the next fella but that must have been some horrific smelling good times.

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 19 points 2 weeks ago

He's having a ball

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 21 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I can only imagine the rationalizations folks came up with for this back in the day. That's like saying Liberace wasn't gay.

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I still can't figure out why anyone cares. Liberace had batshit insane skills. None of the stuff he played was anywhere close to what I like, but every time he came on tv back in the day, I was glued to it. Why the fuck does anyone care who he loves ? For those that have never seen the man play, enjoy.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Man, my one grandmother loved Liberace.

And you're right, dude was a genius on the keys. Brilliant performer.

It isn't like nobody knew he was gay. But his fans did not give a shit, including my grandmother who was actually a bit of a bigot about that. Not venomous or anything, but definitely not approving, and prone to prejudice. But he was never anything but an idol to her, even with her believing he was gay.

That's how good a performer he was.

Looks like a Royal Air Force after hours pilots party.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago

It's not gay if it's underway.

Wait, wrong branch

[–] baatliwala@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Just some bros hanging out like bros do. Nothing suspicious here.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Ladies, line up - I heard they're all somehow single too!

Ah they must be roommates.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Mustaches peaked in the 80s.

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The era of the mustache was the greatest era in human history.

I was going to ask if everyone had one in those days or if mercury just had a type. I want one but I feel I can’t pull it off till im older and more grey

[–] Cirocg@feddit.it 12 points 1 week ago

" I want it all, and i want it now"

[–] sness@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What’s Borat doing there?

[–] Big_Boss_77@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is it just me, or does Freddie look like the least thrilled one there?
