[–] DemBoSain@midwest.social 8 points 1 day ago

Sorry, that's not worth $155.

This would be a rant if it were slightly longer.

At least you can stick kitchen magnets to it.

Narrator: You can't.

I was hoping for a "self-help" article, but the only suggestion is smashing. And I am not British.

It was the last Dirty Harry movie... 1989 or 1990? Jim Carey plays a heavy metal rock star and lip syncs Welcome to the Jungle while filming a music video.

Are all dinosaur fossils 'replicas'? (www.indianadinosaurmuseum.org)
submitted 3 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by DemBoSain@midwest.social to c/nostupidquestions@lemmy.world

I went to a small 'dinosaur museum' last summer in South Bend Indiana. I wasn't expecting much, but found myself disappointed that all the large displays (except one) were 'replicas'. I'm not sure why I felt this way, since all fossils are 'copies'. But 'replica' makes it seem fake.

edit: I think this is being misinterpreted. In my mind, all fossils are 'copies' of the original. The bone is gone, replaced by stone. But for some reason, calling something a replica doesn't carry the same...majesty as the original copy. Maybe it's just the thought that it could have been tampered with when making it out of plastic or fiberglass.

I was in Australia (Queensland) about a year ago. I just finished a hike through the forest, and felt something on the back of my neck. Without thinking I grabbed it and threw it on the ground (kind of a gravel road), and it was this little guy. Just the coolest little jumping spider I've ever seen.
